It all started during the late 80's in the city of Lima, Peru with brothers "Eduardo Leiva" (vocals/drums) and "Cesar Leiva" (keyboards). They began as most musicians of the time, in garage bands, trying different trends and sounds of the underground scene in Lima. Having created a very good following, they played in many of the best venues of the city.
After a few years in 1992 they met with young producer "Ivo Draganac" and took the band to a new level. It is then that they decided to name the band "Arian 1" after the French space program and rocket, which meant a great deal of always changing and evolving technology. It was a time in which New Wave, New Beat, gothic, Synth Pop and Industrial styles had a great presence in the region.
In the beginning, they experimented with different styles of electronic music which later were defined as "EBM" (electronic body music), and also worked on covers from bands like Front 242, Nitzer Ebb, Bigod 20. Success was accounted for, as they played a total of 16 shows in 1993 and 18 shows in 1994 with very positive followings and outcomes. Subsequently, they decided to take the project to the next level and acquired new equipment and composed 13 new songs including their latest single "Espana". However, at the time, labels in Lima were having difficulties signing bands with these types of characteristics for their Latin markets.
In 1995, they traveled to Chile and played in Santiago with a great response from the audience. In 1996, they played in Transindustria (01) and (02) an electronic private event. After that, they decided to take a break to wait for the right moment to come back on to the scene. The last two shows were in the well-known club "Nebula" in the year 1999 and 2000 and by this time the style had evolved from "EBM" to "Electro Minimal".
After a long break, “Arian 1” comes back in November 2007 with a new Single "Machine Gun" this Limited edition CD+DVD it..s only a sample of the next Album (LP). Today "Arian 1" is in the U.S. and Peru working on their LP "Evolution" this Limited Edition (double CD pack) will be launch next December 2008.
Se fundó en Lima Perú en 1992 por Eduardo y Cesar Leiva además de la muy cercana colaboración de Ivo Dragañac. Fue una época en la cual los estilos industrial, New Beat, Synth Pop y New wave ganaban gran presencia en la región. La banda experimentó al inicio algunos estilos de música electrónica que se definieron en el EBM, (Electronic Body Music).
Su primera presentación en vivo fue en el parque Kennedy de Miraflores en Nov. De 1992. A raíz de esa presentación recibieron la invitación del grupo local de synthpop ""Ensamble"" para tocar como banda soporte en un conocido club del distrito de Lince en Marzo del 1993 (presentación en la cual el grupo presento 2 temas propios y 2 covers), el resultado de la misma fue exitoso y los promotores propusieron preparar un show completo de 2 sets para abril del mismo año.
La presentación como grupo principal fue un éxito y como consecuencia se dio inicio a una serie de presentaciones para promocionar al grupo a nivel nacional. Se realizo un total de 16 conciertos en 1993 y 18 en 1994, los resultados fueron muy positivos, eso dio pie para tomar el proyecto mas en serio, renovaron equipos y finalizaron 12 temas propios, mas no llegaron a firmar con un sello debido a que en ese momento habían dificultades para lanzar al mercado una producción de esas características en Sudamérica. A fines de 1994 Arian1 tomo un descanso. Regresaron en octubre del 95 para dar 2 presentaciones con un sonido y puesta en escena renovada, una fue en Lima (San Borja) y la otra en Santiago – Chile (club Loft).
Arian 1 compuso los siguientes 12 temas: My place is here - España - Stand Up - Misterio - Detengan las Maquinas - Almas - You want it - Muerte ardiente - Pure control - Matrix - Wake Up y Move your body.
Después de un largo descanso Arian 1 vuelve a la escena en 2007 con un Nuevo single Titulado “Machine Gun” grabado y coproducido en la Ciudad de Nueva York y Lima, esta edición limitada se lanzo en CD+DVD en un empaque deluxe el 23 de Noviembre de 2007 bajo el sello TDV en el evento donde se presento como banda soporte junto a la agrupación alemana “Camouflage”.
Arian 1 Confirma la salida de su Proximo LP titulado " Evolution " que se lanzara los primeros dias del mes de Diciembre del presente. El Album "doble" de Edicion Limitada incluira temas de los inicios de la banda hasta las mas recientes composiciones resumiendo asi los 16 años de carrera artistica del grupo.
Eduardo Neira (Eniac) por toda la labor y dedicacion (en programacion y teclados) brindada desde la vuelta a escena en 2007.
