The Roadless {Awakening}

I call myself The Roadless because while I know where I am going, the road to get there is not definite. Additionally, it's a play on words (I take the road less traveled, regularly). In any case, I am ever-evolving, a dreamer, and a runner who has learned to embrace the calm of walking.

I'm a career academic, currently in grad school. I get paid to think and would prefer no other life. I live in my head, breathe by my pen, and defy all statistics. I'm a wierd, rebel nerd...and proud of it. I'm a closet artist...and proud of that too.

I love the South; my parents are Caribbean immigrants; and I long to live out West. So, I have strange regional issues. I can adjust to any climate but generally don't stay long enough to get attached. At one time I pegged myself an urbanite, but living in small country towns for such a long time, I find myself unable to let go of the luxuries space, nature, and a slow pace bring me. I connect with my emotions through music and love black-and-white images. I have a beautiful, undersized, 13” Beagle named Luther who sleeps with me nearly every night.

Crazy shit I do: wear plaid proudly; chase my dog with a remote control car; sit in silence for long periods of time; refuse to answer the phone randomly; drive to the top of parking garages and sit on the top of my car while blasting whatever music fits my emotions at the time; analyze a situation from ten different angles before i make a decision; buy books with a 5% intention of reading it (i just like books. i don't know why); read scientific journals for fun, on my off days, during vacation periods; travel to places i don't know anyone to go to cool concerts and theatre shows; keep in my contacts for 6 months at a time; begin studying at sunset...
