"And then there was music..." Singer songwriter Ari Charbonneau was born on the first day of spring in 1980, New Years Day of the astrological calendar. At age fifteen, her older brother Mike taught her three chords on the acoustic guitar. The chords were G, D & C and the song was "Knockin on Heaven's Door." The young artist took immediately to the art of songwriting and fell head over heels for the rock & roll dream. Dylan continued to be one of her main influences throughout the years, most evident when she is wailing on a six string and harmonica. Piano goddess Tori Amos was also an inspiration early on, as well as Blind Melon, John Lennon, Kermit the Frog, Led Zeppelin and Jim Morrison. "I am the lizard king, I can do anything."
In 1996 good friend Ryan Luby, scribbled a note in high school Spanish class, and passed it to Charbonneau. It said "Hey man, wana start a band?" Hence was the dawning of the acoustic rock duo known as "Green Love Blues." Luby was a natural born musician, always tapping out beats on his desk in class and already singing in a band at the time. The two started performing at local bars & coffeehouses, and even amongst the older more seasoned musicians, the two stood out as a force to be reckoned with. They cut a full length record entitled "Rooms," before moving on to pursue solo careers. They continue to collaborate, namely on a song entitled "Get Crazy," in which Ari lends vocals to to an inspiration hip-hop ballad about giving life all you got.
In the year 2000 Ari moved to Boston, MA and recorded her first solo EP "Mystory Inside the Tree." She spent the next six years polishing her chops as a street performer and full time musician. In the summer she played barefoot on the streets of Harvard Square in Cambridge and Boston's Faneuil Hall Marketplace, and in the winter she sang underground in the subway stations, selling CDs and living off tips.
Charbonneau has performed in the New England area at such venues as Club Passim, TT the Bears, CBGB's Gallery NYC, Galapagos Artspace, Goodbye Blue Monday in Brooklyn, Vincents Bar & Ralphs Diner in Worcester and Herrell's Renaissance Cafe in Allston Rock City. This past summer she played at the Rainbow Room in Los Angeles and travels to New York City for shows whenever possible. She also held a weekly residency at The Middle East in Cambridge in 2005, where she met bass player Aaron Bellamy with whom she is currently recording a studio record set for release in fall 2009.
Her song "Light Parade" is featured in an up and coming film entitled "How I Got Lost" written and directed by Joe Leonard. The film will be playing at Tribeca Theatre in NYC on Fri, July 10th: visit howigotlost.com for more details. "Light Parade" can be requested on several independent radio stations including WICN, WERS, WUMB, 92.5fm. Ari will be performing in the Worcester/Boston/NYC area while finishing up her debut record set to hit the jukebox this fall. Stay tuned.

LYRICS:
Light Parade
When I get lost, it's like a whole lotta love can find me out
And love, can light the way, you got a dream don't you child,
memory will fade, the light parade, you got a universal soul
and i won't let you go that way again.
You're gonna run outta time, you gotta say what you can say
and dont lose the faith. I know its gettin hard, time will be a friend.
The way you look tonight. I don't want your money. I don't want you to change,
you're such a sweet soul. You gotta try don't you love to keep your head on straight, and don't lose the faith. I got a friend in the war. God I miss your smile, it's all in you child, you're gonna find what you love. Even when you trade your dreams for what you need. You just need to get by, fillin holes with light, it's gonna light your way, gonna meet you there, you know you're gonna make it. They said you were good and bad, i don't know baby but maybe you can i don't know baby but maybe you can, and today was just another day, just another day. He sent a letter from the war, blood on your hands, bless it if you can. He sent a letter from the war bless it if you can, i dont know baby but maybe you can understand. You can take my hand... The dream will take time.
Be What U Are
Are you waiting for signs of life, it's all around you. The lights are so bright, you're scared you won't know what to do. You can try to hope. It's oh so very unusual, easy just to be just what u are, be just what you are. And follow your heart, it's oh so very unusual easy just to be just what u are. Be just what u are. Be just what u are.
Are you waiting for signs of life, it's all around you. Come back to your center, you need to find a center point of grace. You can try to hope. its oh so very unusual, easy just like breakin your heart. Be just what you are. Be just what u are. Follow your heart. It's oh so very unusual, hoping that you won't fall apart. Be just what u are. Be just what u are.
Car
I'm gonna take my car, take my car, goin to the Gulf of Mexico, goin down. And i'm gonna take my boat, take my boat, wherever it may float, yeah when I think of you I smile. I'm gonna take my bike, take my motorcycle bike, get scared when i'm in the dark about the light all around. I read a lotta poetry, read a lot, laugh a lot, think a lot, dream a lot. Wherever I lay my head is my home, wherever I lay my head. I'm gonna buy me a ticket on the next train outta town. I'm goin to New Amsterdam, goin down, goin down. And when we meet in space and time, when we meet, when we try. I'm gonna take a walk and try to escape my mind, scared when I'm thinkin that life keeps passing me by. I get scared to die. I'm facing the same goddamn demons everyday and they're always tryin to stand in my way. It feels like all the angels and all the saints are laughin in my face, so i read a lotta poetry.... Stars collided when we met, when we meet in space , when we meet in time, stars collide.
