Bio:
Hi! I'm a Guitar Player, Teacher, Composer and Producer. I was born in 1984 in San Jos.., Costa Rica and have been playing since I was 13 years old. I went to study at L.A.M.A. (Los Angeles Music Academy) when I was 16 years old. It was one of the greatest experiences in my life because of having the opportunity to study with incredible teachers such as Frank Gambale, Jeff Richman, Bill Fowler, Ross Bolton and many more, and being able to be exposed to many different musicians from all over the world. I fully decided to dedicate myself to music when I was about 19, while studying Computer Science at ULACIT; it wasn't easy at first but I do not regret any choice made. Music is the greatest thing to me, I love it and I just can't live without it for a single second.
I've been a guitar teacher since 2002, holding a maximum of 50 students aprox. a month at InNova Music School. I enjoy very much the fact that through my lessons, I can pass some of the knowledge about my craft to guitar players and musicians overall in Costa Rica, helping the music scene grow and develop to a better and even more productive one!.
I also work as a hired guitar player and studio musician and I setup (calibrate) and do small repairs to guitars.
Bands:
I've played in many bands in Costa Rica, the most recent and most promising, Time's Forgotten (Progressive Rock / Ambient), Mustang 65 (Grunge / Blues / Rock), Mekatelyu (Reggae Roots / Funk), Urban Sound Project (Chill Out / Trip-Hop / Ambient), Esteban Calderon (Pop / Rock / Alternative). Other bands I have participated with include: Jazz & Something Else, Desesperanza, Gin Aluvosi, Fuzzy Rojas, Phantom Bleeding, Metamorfosis, Blue Jazz, Oz, Smooth, Northern, Diego Ivankovich, Peregrino Gris, Ivan Murillo, Kingo Lovers, as a soloist, and some others...
Time's Forgotten:
With Time's Forgotten we finished our first album in May, 2006 and released it in the Costarican market by August 2006! It is a fusion of progressive rock, electronic passages and lots of cool melodies! The CD is called "A Relative Moment Of Peace" and it is available at most major record stores locally (Vertigo, Insomnio, Legacy, Mr. CD) and we're working on getting a record deal to be able to reach all of you who are outside Costa Rica. You can check out some of our songs, videos and pictures at our space at http://www.myspace.com/timesforgottenband or visit the official website by clicking on the banner:
Our first concert was in November, 2006. So far we have played only a few times managing to fill our venues like we never expected we would have with a really warm support of the public, the fans. In March 2007 we opened the Baja Prog Fest XI 2007 in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico and were denominated the best opening band for this festival in 8 years. We also played alongside EZOO and CAST, and opened for the Brazilian band Angra. In November 2007 we also played an "unplugged" at Jazz Cafe in San Jose, Costa Rica, which was a total success.
Urban Sound Project
This is my new "Chill Out" project. It's repertoire is made of a mixture of styles such as New Age, Trip Hop, Acid Jazz, Bossa Nova, Alternative, among others, consisting mostly of covers and some original arrangements.
It's designed to bring an enjoyable, modern and classy music show or listening environment to any corporate event, product presentation, parties of any sort, restaurants, hotels, lounges, coffee shops, weddings, or any other situation where it's music would be suitable.

UNICEF soundtrack:
Alongside Juan Pablo Calvo, we produced the music and soundtrack for a UNICEF short film against child abuse and violence, which I'm very happy about because I'm getting to help people through my art. You can watch it right here:

XIII International Guitar Festival
In September - 2006, I had the honor of playing at the National Theater in Costa Rica as a soloist being the opening act for Bill MacPherson and Andy Summers (former guitar player of "The Police") at the XIII International Guitar Festival. I recorded my songs with a small minidisc and a tiny microphone (the recording quality is not really good and the little mic was too close to the cymbals of the drums so sometimes they're really loud jeje) and I posted them ahead so you can listen to me live. I played 3 original songs I wrote specially for that day in trio-format (Me with 2 excellent musicians: Mario Alvarez on bass and Kin Rivera Jr. on drums) so check them out:
Here's a video of the last song "Tokyo". It starts a little bit after the solo starts and finishes on the song's ending:
About the songs posted in my player:
"Walking Towards The Sun" is the second song of my band's (Time's Forgotten) first CD "A Relative Moment of Peace". Recorded at home in 2005.
I put my song Tokyo which I also posted in my bio in the player for quicker access. This was recorded at the 2006 Guitar Festival.
Wish You Were Here is one of my favorite Pink Floyd songs, this is a "Chill Out Trippy Version" that I did.
Spain (by Chick Corea) and Donna Lee (by Charlie Parker) are both jazz standards recorded in december 2005 with my jazz band "Blue Jazz" (With all except the singer). These songs were recorded at Animo Producciones Studios, San Jos.., CR by Alfredo Alan Jr.
Notes:
I live in Costa Rica, it is a beautiful country with very good musicians. Hopefully through my space people will get to know me a little better and maybe get a chance to meet me and other musicians from here.
Any comments, pictures, phrases, ideas, jokes, videos, music, anything you'd like to share or say to me is highly appreciated! Don't forget to check out Time's Forgotten "MySpace" at Time's Forgotten Myspace Site and listen to some of our songs, or at the band's official website at Time's Forgotten.

H. Jackson Brown: Good character is more to be praised than outstanding talent. Most talents are, to some extent, a gift. Good character, by contrast, is not given to us. We have to build it, piece by piece -- by thought, choice, courage, and determination.
kind regards! DREAMSCAPE (progressive metal from germany) (new cd september 2009! - buy or let die!)
