The artist better known as ARISTO definitely lives up to the derived definition representing him. This urban artist can confidently be stated as the “Future of Hip-Hop”. Born in South America, and raised in the west end of Toronto, Aristo has incorporated his cultural, family, and life struggles into his pursuit in music since the age of 12. The artist has made his mark in the underground hip-hop scene for over 8 years, which through this time his love and contribution to music has encouraged him to reach the masses. Aristo has created a unique reflection of his personality on to his lyrical skills, which is partly due to his appreciation for various genres of music. During the past 4 years, he has been interviewed and his music has been played on various urban music stations throughout Canada, U.S.A and Europe. Along with airplay on the radio stations, Aristo’s first demo tape was released in 1999, and since then he has released various mixtapes such as:, Blockwork:Vol. 1 & 2, West end Ryderz Vol.1, So Seductive Vol. 1 & 2, “Trials of a Hustler” Interactive CD The Offense:The Playbook and his latest releases Take Control Vol.1 & 2. As an independent artist, Aristo has sold more than 65,000 copies of his mixed compilations Worldwide and has performed alongside artists such as Juelz Santana, 112, and Too Short. Apart from music, Aristo has been a featured model for the Nexlyne/Universal marketing campaign as well as the official NBA website. To keep the hip-hop fans aware of his presence as an artist; he has also created a website, www.aristo-online.com and a myspace page www.myspace.com/aristoworld where songs and future projects can be viewed.
Versatility is the key to success in the year 2007, and Aristo brings that in his lyrical style and content. His attainment of wide-ranging knowledge, and awareness of global issues, allows him to portray his unique contribution to the urban market. Unlike many hip-hop artists on the come up, his rhymes challenge the clichés of the hip-hop industry, while at the same time bringing the current flavour of today. Aristo has used positive feedback as encouragement to continue up the journey towards his goals, he also has the ability to take negative comments as positive criticism.
In addition to music, Aristo is planning on expanding his artistic talents through different forms in the urban community. He is a young entrepreneur with a business mind and street savvy. The artist’s professional attitude can be seen by his means to achieve his outlined goals by the age of 26! Over the next year, Aristo has set out a blueprint of his future proposals in addition to his lyrical contribution, which include:
- Releasing his 1st solo album entitled “Absolute Power”
- Owning and operating his own independent record label entitled ‘Freeborn Records’
- Establishing a charitable foundation. “You Could Be A Star”
- Marketing Firm and Street promotional team “BlockWork Marketing Group”
- Online radio station OFFENSE RADIO.
For many others these future plans may be considered as a fragment of the imagination, but for Aristo, this is what he defines as his ‘realistic dreams’. The “nobleman” who is “proud and distinguished” can be revealed by his outlook on life. Aristo believes that ‘transforming your dreams into an attainable plan is the only way to achieve them. There is no sense in dreaming about something and not working towards living that dream. This separates those who are living life from those who merely exist in it [life]!’. This Toronto native is making hip-hop listeners take notice of the talents prevailing in the WEST! Aristo’s contribution as a versatile and intellectual artist is definitely something Canada should offer in the urban music industry worldwide. His lyrical talent, concrete determination towards his music, and his aim to use it in a positive manner, is a great example of a role model in the hip-hop lifestyle.
