Sounds Likeer, not sure, like a soundtrack I guess, most people have commented on the filmesque sound of some of the tracks. If you could place them in a movie it would be Lost in Translation maybe! I like to keep things simple and unclutterd mostly, like a sparse soundscape, We do rock out a lot more live but I like to think they'll help you sleep better!

   About ARKETEK
..

On August 7th 2007 I lost My amazing Fiance to Suicide. I have along with some other close friends of Bridget's set up a group to help raise awareness about suiicde and mental health issues. Please visit our site here and help us spread the word. We also have a myspace page here and a bebo page here. Any help is greatly appreciated.

ARKETEK started life in the fast lane of americana/new country in a band called

Dot Creek | view info here | Myspace page here |

we were part of the explosion in Ireland more by accident than any planning on our part, we just wanted to create beautiful music and that's where we ended up!, we were doing kinda well actually, had releases a couple of singles, a nice album, were playing along side the likes of

The Handsome Family | View site |
Willard Grant Conspiracy | view site |
Howie Gelb (Giant Sand) | view site |
The Pernice Brothers | view site |

etc. Unfortunaely in time I was left with a choice to either murder our manager or leave the band, I chose the route less likely to put me in jail and went on my merry way! I still love the stuff we did! some of which is on the Dot Creek myspace page above!

After a calming period and the need for something musically fresh I was fortunate enough to play for 3 years with Dublin based electronic band

Halfset | view site | with
Stephen Shannon | view site | &
Jeff Martin | view site |

We played alongside

Mylo | view site |

We worked like lunatics to release our debut album Dramanalog | buy here | which came out last year to a but the trip from Galway to dublin (500km round trip) for rehearsal eventually became too much and I had to leave the lads to carry on the good work, And so in the void I created Arketek.

"Tiny Screws For Tiny Hinges" album cover -due spring 2008

"Tiny Screws For Tiny Hinges" - my debut album now finished. produced by Steve of Halfset in his Experimental Audio studio | view here. Hoping to release within the next few months. Will post here when it's ready to rock!

Some pictures below from the amazing 2007 Irish festival circuit with my late fíance Bridget (1981 - 2007). I hope you are at peace sweetheart.

Unless we vote no we and all our european friends ( who were denied a vote on this...suspicious!! ) will be handing over power of our country to a group of corrupt unelected people in brussels who will be making Irish Law!! our politicians have sold us out... check it

Hello to you my friend! My comment is to bring,to debate, issues I feel are very important, concerning the lisbon treaty. I wouild like to reccomend Two DocumentariesThe first called "The real face of the European Unio" which is wery important as it outlines, once again by MEP's themselves,"An unsettleing Agenda" from an EU that is "Rotten to the Core"....
The sceond is from a group of Irishmen."End of Nations" It is an excellent documentary and it outlines the Lisbon treaty in full.Once again interviews with MEP's. Just be prepared to be a little shocked.
They can both be found on Google video and if you find you don't have the time to watch them I'd reccomend a short clip on you tube called "Ireland's call vote no to lisbon"
I hope it helps and I'd encourage you to repost this comment If you feel it is of value. I will be posting a bulletin with the details and code of this comment.Press reply to bulletin, copy and paste the message, then repost as a comment. Thanks for taking the time to read this! Baz.....

Hey mate!

How goes it!?

We have landed from Australia and settling nicely into Galway. we are training up a new drummer and keen to get some gigs under our belt. Know of any good local acts that might be worth checking out and hooking a gig up with??
Any advice you've got would be really appreciated!

Hope all is going well and 2008 is treating you with much respect!

Cheers,
Jill
