Arlene ;)'s Interests
|
| General | LIVE MUSIC!!!(of course!), jamming, dancing, shooting pool, reading, metaphysics, exploring the world at large, especially quiet and uncrowded places where nature runs amok and especially near water, kayaking, snorkeling in tropical settings, outdoor hot tubs in winter, and happy surprises (giving and getting!) | | Music | WANNA JAM?
So much to listen to, so little time!!! Mostly rock (classic, oldies, progressive, pop), blues, light jazz and old standards. My absolute favorite is live music with good players in combination with other good players who they don't normally get to play with, so that what you hear is fresh and of that moment. My aspiration is to create that myself! | | Movies | Runs the gamut from "Blues Brothers" to "Sweet and Lowdown" to "The Peaceful Warrior" to "Pulp Fiction" to "Fresh". Good Sci-Fi; anything that makes me laugh! | | Television | Mostly unplugged. Loved the "Firefly" series, pre-quel to the movie "Serenity". Also "Cowboy Be-bop" (Japanese animae). | | Books | The Tao of Leadership, edited by John Heider. "The Secrets of Dr. Tavener" by Dion Fortune! Just finished "Survivor", a very twisted novel by Chuck Palahniuk (author of "Fight Club") - a great read!!! | | Heroes | Anyone who is true to himself and doesn't sell out. Hard to do in these crazy times. So, big big cheers for all those who have no intentions of selling out, ever! And for those who do, we love ya anyway - check please - I'm outta here! |

About me:
Playing music is like making love - you should never do it the same way twice!!!

******* I am a unique violinist available as a FREELANCE for hire, either as a solo, duo, trio, or as an addition to an established band. I have an eclectic style and versatility which encompasses a variety of genres, including (but not limited to) ROCK (classic, oldies, progressive, pop), BLUES, light JAZZ and old standards. I am always interested in seeking out good live music so feel free to contact me if you know of something fun that is happening. (NOTE: Please read my blog NOTHING LASTS FOREVER for my take on FREELANCING - thanks!)
***********************************************************
My most recent collaborations have been with the renown vocalist Jean Avery (with Bill Wehbe on piano), the ever-popular rock singer Mimi Nowak www.bigmoosemusic.com , sitting in with "Chicago" Carl Snyder, house pianist at the Richlandtown Inn, and most recently I am proud to be a part of THOM PALMER MUSIC - with Jim Thomsen's interpretation of the Old Standards on piano - stay tuned!!!

COMBUSTION! features me on violin backing up a very special guest - most often a "heavyweight" musician with his own repetoire and following. Special guests have included Lou Pompilio, Marv Falcon, John Austin, the infamous "Mulletman" and other talented performers - COMBUSTION is always available for bookings!

I can expand to a full band, and I can also sit in with the most appropriate established rock, blues, or jazz band to suit your needs.
