About me: Internationally acclaimed as one of racing’s most beautiful settings, Arlington Park hosted its inaugural meet in 1927 and re-opened its doors in 1989 after a devastating fire engulfed the clubhouse four years earlier. As home to the world’s first million-dollar race, the Arlington Million, Arlington features a 1 1/8-mile main track, a one-mile turf course and a five-furlong training track. Arlington experienced a historic first in 2002 as the suburban Chicago track hosted its first-ever Breeders’ Cup World Thoroughbred Championships. Arlington holds the distinction of being the first track in the midwest to install a synthetic racing surface, which will take place during the winter of 2007. Thoroughbred racing is normally held at Arlington from mid spring into autumn.
Who I'd like to meet: People who like horse racing!
PRCA Cowboy Chris Mason lowers his head in prayer at the start of the rodeo Bull riding event in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
There's a hundred years of history and a hundred before that All gathered in the thinkin' goin' on beneath his hat.
He's got Buffalo Bill Cody and the Jigger boss And all of the brave blue soldiers that General Custer lost The cold flame burns within him 'til his skin's as cold as ice And the dues he paid to get here are worth every sacrifice.
All the miles spent sleepy drivin', all the money down the drain All the "if I's" and the "nearly's", all the bandages and the pain All the female tears left dryin', all the fever and the fight Are just a small downpayment on the ride he makes tonight.
It's guts and love and glory-one mortal's chance at fame His legacy is rodeo and cowboy is his name.
