She was an elder cadet, one of spacious wisdom - a breed's bun, a belt apart. There was jello in the satin black bag between us. I felt it at the cadet's urging. I squeezed & suggested that she blow the shofar. I was forcefully slapped and slapped again. I was under the table. Screaming, spoken heels, smoked fish, & clinking plates, all within a razor's reach. A blur and a bear, I left out. She had pulled rank, left of center. It felt squishy & I had no choice. Someone was raised by a chair. Incidentally, I re-traced my steps.

Arms of Kismet's 'Sail Seven' was featured as a taste of the day at www.eartaste.com Saturday - thanks!!!

The tune starts off with a narration of the first few lines in Genesis and quickly brings us through time with a heartbeat dance. “We were born to sail the world, sail it to its end. On the stars we could depend. We were born to drift the earth, letters home to send.” The poetry intrigues and enhances the music. “We were born to touch the sky, touch it with these dreams. We were born to burst it at the seams.” It’s not often lyrics leave me speechless, but those with ears open will understand. Nice work. Shoutout to Sepia Eyes, a beautiful poem with a beautiful tune. “Forgotten worlds beneath my feet.”

Today, Mustafio cooked dinner for the family. I called everyone down but nobody was in the house. Mr. Bear was sitting on the bed and he ignored me. I ran into Porcelina's room and she was knitting a sweater. Then I went back into the kitchen but that fell apart because it was made of sand.

For now, the busiest day of the week is today. This is subject to change as my schedule is bound to fill up with the demands of an uncertain tomorrow. Only yesterday I was thinking about a block of empty time, when it fell and shattered like an iceberg in front of the panoramic window, the one on the north face of the compound. The birds sing to forget the inevitability of their toil. I sing only to remember that a song is still in my heart, along with a load in my gut. Eating before bed is nasty business, even for a lucky bastard such as myself. I felt like a heaving Greek galleon last night. Today I resolve to embrace a tangible emptiness.

So it's a capital 'T' that's been hanging you up? Don't worry, it's only paint. And paint is easy to remove. If I was your mother and you were my daughter, you would be sleeping already. I wear these pajamas only on weekends. And you think that's healthy? People don't listen to their body until it's too late. I am not dramatic, I am merely being practical.

It's a fractured fallacy to engage in 'what have we here?'. 'Is' is what it is, only and evermore. Suck it in, rub out your eyes, and try to elicit some adaptability from your otherwise rigid & pitiful soul. If the only hearty thing on the menu is lamb pudding, say "Good! That's a tasty treat!" Quell the gag response and move forward. Better and more accessible nutrition will be obtained through the ingestion of the liquified 'bah-bah' than by ingesting the napkin, though that may seem momentarily preferable. Wise choices always make wise men.

After last night's lecture, someone commented to me that I must be an army brat because I had such fantastic teeth. Such teeth, he said, could only be the result of good breeding and access to the finest dental care. I explained that though I descend from a long line of Bulgarian nobility, when I was a boy people were still having infected teeth removed by a donkey tied to a rope. Happenstance, I explained to him, is the main reason behind Mustafio's distinguished countenance.
