Our influences Range from Thrash Metal and all other forms of Metal, to old School Hardcore punk. Our Lyrics and music is also heavily influenced by horror films.
ARMY OF DARKNESS began in 2004, in San Bernardino, California. The project was started by 2 former members of the local band, KAOTIC KREATURE, Guitarist/Vocalist, Joseph Gonzalez, and bassist Brian Rogers. After placing an add in a local paper for months, and not finding what they were looking for, they eventually met up with Orange County based Drummer, Derin Argon, and he joined the fold. And a couple months later, the band began playing shows. Robert Provience then came in not long after that, as Lead guitarist.
In March 2005, A.O.D. then went into the studio, and very quickly, layed down tracks for their first Demo. At the very end of 05, they parted ways with Robert Provience, and he was replaced by Guitarist Pat Smith. In May 2007, due to personal differences, the band decided to let Pat go, and then they were joined by lead Guitarist Ant ( SANGRE, ex- CONTORTION) and that lineup of the band continued to play many shows, and gain a fan base all over southern California. In November of 2008 Guitarist Ant decided to leave the group.
The 3 core members of A.O.D. then hit the recording studio again, this time to begin work on their first full length self released CD, 'FOREVER UNDEAD.' The Band, along with a friend of Derin's, special Guest Lead Guitarist, Jim Durkin ( Ex-Guitarist of Legendary 1980s Thrash Metal Band DARK ANGEL) recorded the CD at Desert Moon Recording studios in Anaheim, California. Right now the Band is at work putting the finishing touches on the album, and it should be finished and out by the end of the year. In January of 2009, Original A.O.D. Lead Guitarist Robert Provience rejoined the Band.
The band has played shows in California, Arizona, and Las Vegas. They have shared the stage and played shows with bands such as, EXODUS, OVERKILL, FLOTSAM AND JETSAM, PRONG, SOILWORK, DESTRUCTION, M.O.D., SKINLAB, L.A. GUNS, FORBIDDEN, GAMMA RAY, KRISIUN, DRAGONLORD, BELLADONNA, DARKANE, EMBRACE THE END, DORO, AGENT STEEL, MUNICIPAL WASTE, ARSIS, and many others.
ARMY OF DARKNESS continues to Slash the scene with a shredding guitar attack and thundering Drums. Unleashing the sounds of Thrash/Speed Metal, combined with some elements of Grindcore/Death Metal, and Hardcore Punk Thrash, for a head spliting Metal sound. Their ready to explode on to the scene.
