About ARNO CARSTENS

South African singer songwriter Arno Carstens has achieved superstar status is his home country with award winning gold and platinum solo albums.

During his career as the lead singer of The Springbok Nude Girls and subsequently as a solo artist, this 4 x platinum singer songwriter has released 7 studio albums, had 13 top ten singles, won 5 South African Music Awards and shared the stage with the likes of INXS, R.E.M, Metallica, The Rolling Stones, The Police, Celine Dion and Simple Minds.

The past two years have seen a meteoric growth in Arno’s prospects as a globally relevant singer songwriter and recording artist.

In 2007 Arno performed on the main stage at the Isle of Wight Festival in the UK and two weeks later as the main support act for The Rolling Stones in Spain.

Arno relocated to the UK for 8 months in 2008 to work on his 3rd solo album. He performed support for Celine Dion during her 5 date tour of the UK, Paul Weller, The Police in Germany and London as well as Starsailor, Suzanne Vega and Meatloaf. He also performed at all the major UK festivals, including Isle of Wight, Glastonbury, T in The Park, Oxygen and both the V Festivals.

In 2009 Arno performed at the Hard Rock Calling Festival in Hyde Park, London and once again on the main stage at the Isle of Wight Festival. He also performed as main support for Simple Minds during their 9-date tour of Germany, Luxembourg and France.

Another Universe, Arno’s first solo album, was released in September 2003 and as one of the most anticipated solo projects in SA music history, did not disappoint, becoming the biggest selling South African English rock album this side of the millennium. The platinum selling album won a SAMA Award for Best Rock Album in 2004.

Arno’s 2nd solo album, The Hello Goodbye Boys was released in September 2005. It’s a powerful record, defined very clearly by Arno’s unique voice and his creative ability when it comes to writing music. Produced by well known South African studio maestro Brian O’ Shea (USA’s Seether), The Hello Goodbye Boys went gold and won a SAMA award in 2006.

His 3rd solo album will be released in the 1st quarter of 2010. It was written, recorded and mixed in London & Spain with co-songwriting contributions from Giles Martin, James Walsh, Jim Duguid and Youth. The album was produced by legendary British producer Youth (The Verve’s Urban Hymns) and Jim Duguid (Paulo Nutini’s These Streets). Final mix on the album is by Tim Bran (The Verve’s recent UK1 album).

Both your solo stuff, and what you do with SNG, tho each are totally different types of music, both are soooo wonderful, so good!! A breath of fresh air from the stale old Commerical crap we got on the radio today. You know how to TOTALLY ROCK OUT with SNG, yet you have a soft side with such an AWESOME voice! I could listen to you sing all day long. Could you please add "Man and Lion" and "Feel it" to your playlist so I can put it on mine?
