It all started exactly three years ago in a small studio in Vienna’s Museumsquartier. Today PLAY.FM is one of the most expansive online audio databases for DJ and club culture. More than 6,000 DJ sets, radio shows and live recordings from across the globe can be heard free of charge and on-demand at www.play.fm. For the official birthday party PLAY.FM is proud to present the father of Detroit techno: Anthony “Shake” Shakir will play one of his rare European gigs on 5 May. Shake has been playing a decisive role in shaping the Motor City Sound since 1981 – from long-time A&R for Juan Atkins' Metroplex-Label to Co-Producer and Sound Engineer for Derrick May, Carl Craig und Keith Tucker from Aux 88. In contrast to many of his colleagues, Shake avoided selling-out Detroit techno to the European market and has stayed true to his style: bone-dry and unbelievably soulful techno tracks with diverse influences from electro to hip hop and funk.
