Andy Votel is internationally respected amongst djs, record collectors and producers as a champion collector of obscure psych-folk-prog-hip hop-jazz-trash-kraut-fuzz-tropicalia and funk. He is co-owner (with badly drawn boy) of Manchester based label Twisted Nerve and has remixed tracks by Ian Brown, Death in Vegas, Lamb and The Avalanches.
The evening will also feature a special live performance from Jonjo Feather. With two highly acclaimed singles under his belt on Dead Young Records and his debut album due in April, this will be his first hometown show in over a year.
Additional dj sets come from Leeds Hi-fi Club’s Boogaloo residents (latin, funk, 60's beat, ska) and Laputa’s Johnny Boy (psych, funk, freakbeat).

New EL CAMPELLO Venue - Now at the Puzzle Hall, Sowerby Bridge December - 11th - 2nd Thursday of the month FREE ENTRY! FIRST ACT 9PM - Puzzle Hall, Soweby Bridge Butler Williams + Dr Butler's Hatstand Medicine Band + Martin Gardiner Bultler Williams on stage 10.20pm Last date of 20 date UK tour
Butler - Williams released their limited edition EP 'Keep Your Head Down' on the 18th of August and have been on a national tour since. It was picked as 'Indie Record of the Week' at Piccadilly Records Manchester, and has recently found its way onto the shelves of Rough Trade Records, London.
"...Butler Williams continue to shine as one of Manchester's...more striking purveyors of lifting acoustica. In the case of "Keep Your Head Down", Chris Butler and Noel Williams again place gentle, life affirming vocals to the careful pick of acoustic guitar, the splash of some subtle electro loops and the causal sway of simple melodic ideas. As a result, their songs move from the realms of considered folk to ambling countrified narrations. There's always a faint touch of something affected by indie musings and it's hard not to sense that just a little bit of both Manchester own sounds and Britain's folk heritage seep through. When BW slow things down, they obtain a sound that's even more captivating and memorable, as their songs flutter amongst echoes and vivid painted dreams. Live, this duo actually sound even better and special, so what better recommendation?..." www. manchestermusic. co. uk

Following the release of their critically acclaimed debut, Spokes are embarking on an extensive UK headline tour scheduled for November.
The grand sound of their album People Like People Like You was compared to the likes of Arcade Fire by the music undergrounds most influential press.
Spokes will be captivating audiences with material from their forthcoming second album, sharing stages with Volcano! and Mogwai along the way.
"The emotional intensity and waves of melody heard in their songs sound like they come as naturally to the band as breathing." (Drowned In Sound)
"Spokes were next and could well be my new favourite band. This 5-piece had me absorbed from the second they stepped on stage to the second they finished. With all the vigour and natural emotion of say, a temperate Broken Social Scene, their poignant waves of unassuming melody and up-tempo variation was captivating.” (Narc Magazine)

FIRST ACT 9PM - Puzzle Hall, Soweby Bridge Double Headliner: DENIS JONES + KATHRYN EDWARDS Denis Jones on stage 10pm "The debut album from Manchester's Denis Jones arrives after the man's grafted and pulled himself all over the place perfecting his working man blues. Comparisons with John Martyn, (arguably) the pioneer of the British blues-folk-rock tradition are not without warrant, while the no fear attitude of Tunng or Psapp in the use of electronics and sequencers makes for a surprising dovetail.
Comes in some of the most unique packaging we've ever seen. Fold-out plastic case with fabric inner and individually etched number of only 500.this week's thoughts...Hi,Your attention is needed for a new folk hero in the form of Manchester's Denis Jones. Drawing comparisons with the likes of John Martyn and Tunng this is set to have A&R hounds frothing at the mouth, so get on this early.
Oh and the packaging is just wonderful too!!"
Darryl_Piccadilly Records
"There's something about his willingness to experiment, his bravery and risk-taking that makes him stand slightly aside from the now dissolving world of folktronica, this music is left of centre and quite happily so – if Denis wants to make noise he will do, and if he wants to make your heart weep then that's okay too.
It's nice to hear a new generation of artists taking on so many different influences at the moment – I guess we can say that's the power of the internet? Maybe file sharing does have its place in the music scene eh? 'Humdrum Virtue' is a mighty promising start from an artist who we should be seeing a lot more from in future…"

VOLUNTARY BUTLER SCHEME + Modeliste + Ophelia
THE VOLUNTARY BUTLER SCHEME DEBUT EP – TRADING THINGS IN RELEASED ON 21st JULY ON THE LOWEST LAYER OF THE TRIFLE RECORDINGS
A one-man assembly of bold and vibrant caricatures in sound; The Voluntary Butler Scheme makes its debut with the EP Trading Things In released on 21st July on The Lowest Layer Of The Trifle Recordings. The single has been picked as Steve Lamaq’s Single of the week and the release builds on recent sessions for BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio 1 & 2.
22-year-old Rob Jones aka The Voluntary Butler Scheme takes a wry look at life’s shortcomings and styles a plasticine pop of ruggedly organic and excitingly abstract songs. Opening track Trading Things In is lyrically vivid English-summer pop. With ambitiously realised harmonies, and pleasingly shabby arrangement, it recognises the truly defining symptoms of love and devotion; Broccoli, running shoes and bad MP3 playlists.
With The Eiffel Tower And The BT Tower, Rob welcomes a swinging, ska inflected Motown group into his Midland home, “The BT Tower is the first thing that catches your eye when you go into Birmingham. Some sort of warped Midlands’ pride made me want to put it in the title.” The apparent pop soul whimsy of Hot Air Balloon Heart, shares the eccentric gifts of Nilsson and more immediately Gruff Rhys, as it spins classic songwriting into new, surreal and otherworldly shapes - “I’ve been dreaming of you so often, makes my hot air balloon heart soften…”
Hailing from Stourbridge, Rob’s inauguration as a solo artist was inspired – albeit indirectly – by fellow mid-lander Pato Banton. Under the misapprehension that collaboration with the lyrical toaster might be on the cards, Rob wrote and recorded an album’s worth of songs. When the p
