    Arow Blackdragon's Interests

Scorpio is an astrological sign, which is associated with the constellation Scorpius. Under the tropical zodiac, Scorpio is occupied by the Sun from October 23 to November 22, and under the sidereal zodiac, it is currently from November 16 to December 15. The opposite sign to Scorpio is Taurus.

Scorpio is the eighth sign of the Zodiac and associated with intensity and power. Individuals born under this sign are thought to have a complex, emotional, analytical, focused, determined, hypnotic, and self-contained character, but one which is also prone to extremity, jealousy, possessiveness, stubbornness, and cruelty. In terms of anatomy, Scorpio is said to rule the pelvis, reproductive system and urinary system. In terms of geography, Scorpio is linked with Egypt, Syria, Algeria, and Morocco.

Scorpio is traditionally thought to be ruled by the planet Mars, but in recent years many astrologers have labeled Pluto as the ruler or co-ruler of Scorpio, attributing the intensity associated with the sign to the planet's influence.

On August 24, 2006, Pluto was no longer classified as a true planet and thus became a dwarf planet. It is not yet clear what effect this will have on the sign of Scorpio but some astrologers suggest that Mars will once again (as prior to the discovery of Pluto in 1931) become the primary ruling planet of Scorpio.

In mythology Scorpio is often associated with Orpheus, from the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. Scorpio is also associated with the Greco-Roman gods Ares/Mars and sometimes the god Hades/Pluto.

Notable persons born under the sign of Scorpio include: Theodore Roosevelt, Bill Gates, Johnny Carson, Dylan Thomas, Albert Camus, P Diddy, Martin Scorsese, Voltaire, Winona Ryder, John Cleese, Marie Antoinette, Jamie Lee Curtis, Martin Luther, Big Pun, Prodigy of Mobb Deep, Veronica Lake, Marie Curie, Whoopi Goldberg, Jodie Foster, Leon Trotsky, Evelyn Waugh, Edith Head, Fyodor Dostoevsky, John Keats, Chiang Kai-shek, L. S. Lowry, Ivan Turgenev, Vivien Leigh, Danny DeVito, Ted Turner, Pablo Picasso, George Eliot, Rio Ferdinand and Kurt Vonnegut

The Scorpio Moon: Joy and Pain

The Moon is literally in its fall, or denouement, in this sign. For this reason, Scorpio Moon folks are known to grapple with themselves on the inside. They typically experience all emotions extremely, deeply and totally - ecstasy, sorrow, elation... and yes, their tempers, when provoked, can be explosive. To complicate matters, Scorpio Moon people regard their own emotions as a source of vulnerability and therefore try to keep their true feelings under wraps. So, it's not surprising that while many Scorpio Moons are traveling this earth feeling everything very intensely, they're also wearing this kind of detached look. After all, if they were to be found out, there would be very grave consequences indeed. What those consequences might be is anybody's guess... but if the Scorpio Moon is the one doing the imagining, it's sure to be quite catastrophic.

The Scorpio Moon, in a nutshell: intensity. Intense likes, intense dislikes, intense fascination, intense disgust... and yes, in keeping with the general Scorpio reputation, intense love affairs. This is a very black-and-white, all-or-nothing moon with extremely fixed notions about things. If you're loved by a Scorpio Moon then you are loved fiercely, totally and completely; but if you're despised by a Scorpio Moon, then you may as well not exist. And it's quite possible in dealing with this turbulent moon native that both emotions may be directed at you at different points in this lifetime. If a Scorpio Moon perceives that you have slighted them in some way... better make good immediately, or run and hide until the mood passes, because in all likelihood, revenge is being plotted against YOUR head!

The Scorpio Moon: Offsetting the Drama With Private Relaxation

Scorpio Moon people tend to go through life acting on hunches, "reading between the lines" - picking up subtle nonverbal cues, moods, intentions, underlying messages and such. Indeed, someone with this moon placement may get a very different meaning from the same conversation heard by someone with a more literal and pragmatic mind. This is not only quite distracting to the moon native, but when they react to these perceptions it often leads to undesired consequences and drama. Thus, the irony of the Scorpio Moon; being consumed by the very internal composition one despises in himself, and attracting drama-infused situations as a direct result of trying to avoid them.

A troubled Scorpion Moon person should allow herself some distance from time to time... a private sanctuary where she can sort out her emotions, get a healthy perspective and then emerge from the "cocoon" with renewed inner peace and a higher purpose in mind. Indeed, reflection and meditation feels quite natural to this introspective moon native and is encouraged as a way to take the edge off and temper the extreme moods. A deeply sensitive soul, capable of great courage and strength... there is much room for psychological growth and wisdom to be gained with this lunar positioning.

The Scorpio Moon: A Powerful Force for Good OR Evil

As with any sign, there are both positives and negatives to the Scorpio Moon placement. The sign of Scorpio has been assigned two symbols- the Scorpion and the Eagle. The former, a covert creature who stealths along the ground; and the latter, a symbol of power and might, soaring into the high heavens. Lows and highs... the Scorpio Moon is quite familiar with both states of consciousness... more than most, in fact.

Spiritually evolved Scorpio Moon souls can (and should) harness the gift of their emotional intensity and move proverbial mountains with it. If a Scorpio Moon person is intrinsically good, then that goodness of spirit can manifest itself in divine ways... extreme compassion and generosity toward fellow man, great and unshakeable integrity, impeccably honest conduct in business and personal affairs, and a permanent seat on the side of righteousness and justice. An enlightened Scorpio Moon will pledge his whole self to any and every cause he deems important; profess his undying faith to his family, home, country; and even make the ultimate sacrifice in a lifelong promise to serve God. Yes, this moon placement is often found in religious leaders, as the spiritual aspect is heavily emphasized here.

Less evolved Scorpio moons, on the other hand, are not averse to using abject means to get what they want. The concentration of power in this sign placement has led many a wayward Scorpio lunar native down a dark and devious path of corruption. In direct contrast to their enlightened counterparts; illicit affairs, illegal and underhanded dealings, petty and deceitful behavior, psychological turmoil, and loyalty to no one but themselves are trademark signs of the afflicted Scorpio Moon. Again, this is all due to the fact that Scorpio is in the moon's fall, thus making emotions feel uncomfortable, unnatural and all-encompassing. With the all-or-nothing theme at work, indeed this placement will produce some extreme results.

The Scorpio Moon and Sex

It has been said that sexual impulses drive the Scorpio Moon native moreso than other moon signs, perhaps because they radiate such passion and intensity that they're forever in need of release. The Scorpio Moon is equated with transcendental lovemaking or "soul sex" in which the participants experience an exalted state of consciousness by way of the physical sex act itself. Clearly, while "sexual nirvana" is hardly a day-to-day occurrence, this moon person has been labeled as having an extra potential for such achievements. At the very least, this moon person admits to having a high sex drive, even allowing sex to affect his or her decisions at certain points in life.

The Scorpio Moon as a Nurturer

The Scorpio Moon Nurturer is fiercely protective and psychologically all-consuming. Scorpio Moon Mothers, or "Smothers" as they are sometimes known, must learn to temper their intensity. If the Scorpio lover is possessive in her affairs, the Scorpio mother is equally possessive of her children. It will be her ongoing challenge to "let go." These moon natives must get a reign on that fretfulness that leads to strings of sleepless nights, and interfere less in the daily trials and tribulations of their young sons and daughters. Scorpio Moon Mothers must generally permit themselves to chill out, cool down and back off. An earth-sign or earth moon-sign partner can lend a comforting and grounding effect for the Scorpio nurturer who has let the worrying get out of hand yet again.

Other signature themes and preoccupations of the Scorpio Moon: secrets, mysteries, severity, psychology, power, control, passion, revenge, obsession, loyalty, sex, depth of feeling, ethics, spirituality, solitude, death. No, the Scorpio moon is surely not made of green cheese, but rather some of the most powerful facets of human existence. This lunar native must learn to embrace the reality of his or her own emotions as opposed to running or hiding from them. If the Scorpio Moon person can navigate his or her own spirit to a higher and more exalted place, he will recognize the potential for complete and total happines that lies within himself... and the transformation will be powerful for certain.

STOP THE HATE!
You're embarrassing your mother!

I can't choose between my friends, so they're hidden. I refuse to say that one friend is better or closer than the other because each one is so important to me. Those that know me understand how I feel about loyalty. I'll not choose one over the other! If you'd like, you can check out my peeps here.

The name change is legal and has raised quite a few questions and will be explained in the following time line. For those that do know my birth name, please respect my privacy and keep it to yourself. :)

I'm a talker--at great length. I guess people down south just have a chatty nature and I am quite proud of the fact that I can hold serious or silly conversation on pretty much any topic! Originally from Virginia Beach, VA, I moved to Chicago in June 2004. The move was in response to a dire need for a life change; the destination was a suggestion from one I used to call friend. I moved to Chicago with little cash in my pocket and a month after I arrived, I found myself homeless (the lezbo/former friend that said "don't worry about rent or food" totally bailed on me). Never one to give up, I refused the idea of moving back to VA. After a month of being homeless, I had obtained gainful employment, got my own apartment; and since, I've settled in, determined to make the move to Chicago something I can be proud of. Although the move is a decision I regret daily, I am fully aware that it was the only choice I could've made at the time. I miss having close friends that I've known for decades and I strive daily to cultivate those same loving/trusting friendships that make any place "home."

The Highlights of My Life:

June '94: Graduated High School: Bayside beats Cox!

July '95:Moved out of Pops' place. I'd heard the whole "I won't have any faggots living in my house" speech just one too many times. I moved into a "modular home" (that's a glam way to say double wide trailer) with one gorgeous redhead known as Ms. Bethany Kent (if you know her and are curious, feel free to question me... we still talk!)

September '98: Major Surgery. My pancreas decided to go into full-blown attacks during June/July and after a couple of months of munching on Vicodin 750 like it was pez candy just to go to work (I was working 3rd shift in the produce department @ SuperK on Holland Rd) my pancreas almost shut down. In early August, I was told that it was either surgery or a lifetime of intense pain and diabetes. Reluctantly, I agreed. The surgery, Pancreaticojajunostomy (gee, i wonder if that's the correct spelling....) was scheduled for mid Oct, but my body said "Oh no! I won't wait that long!" I was hospitalized for a total of 31 days and out of work for just under 3 months. I've posted a pic of my scar.... I think it's damn sexy!

October 26, '99: I was very blessed to attend the passing of my mom. For those of you who immediately think, "Oh, sad to hear," don't. She spent her final months living with me @ 4613 Jeanne St, #101 (all good Agony Villains know that's Pembroke Square Apts). I was blessed with the opportunity to say "good-bye." Being the youngest of my mom's kids, it was indescribable to have the opportunity to tell her, "I understand if it's time for you to leave, but don't worry about me. I'll take care of things just fine." It's the kind of closure that millions and millions of people will never get the blessing of having. I was holding her hand as she took her last breath. Truly the "circle of life," she was there at my first breath and I, her youngest child, was there as she exhaled her last breath. "The spirit, upon deciding to be born, signs a contract with The Creator and is aware of the clause of death." It is a package deal, afterall!

November '99: Deeply needing as much distraction as possible, I started waiting tables at the newly opened "The In-Between" on Princess Anne Rd and shortly thereafter started bartending there as well.

2000-2004: A whole slew of little life details involving multiple jobs and proprietary business adventures, wonderful men (by that, I mean love, but no lovers), some college, a roommate that didn't pay rent (Thanks to J.B. I lost my apartment, but he later got busted trafficking ecstasy. KARMA WORKS!), and such. Oh, yeah.. the name change occurred during this time. "Arow" is a pen name that I came up with many years before, when I had my first poem published. The single "r" is homage to my mom who spelled my birthname with a single consonant instead of the traditional double consonant. "Blackdragon" is derived from Starhawk's book "The Fifth Sacred Thing." The book is about post-apocalyptic America and the struggle of a city that believes EVERY individual is important and she/he offers valuable contributions to the community of which he/she is a part. The entire novel stresses that individuality and diversity are the most valuable commodities we can cultivate and is the one factor that should be embraced because absolute conformity leads to inequality, prejudice, hate, murder, and oppression!

June 26, 2004: Moved to Chicago!!!

June 28, 2004: Arrived in Chicago!!! I missed my connecting train in D.C. and had to spend the night there, so getting to Chi-town took a little longer than expected. But it's not the destination, it's the journey, right?!?!?!

January, 2006: Hired on as Props Designer for The Shattered Globe Theatre's production of "The House of Blue Leaves" by John Guare which received RAVE reviews.

February 5, 2006: Officially celibate! No pee-pee play here, anymore! No kissin', no touchin', NADA! I've learned that 99% of Chicago folk try to be more than they are and most folk here can't stand people who have a sense of integrity. And the fags... if honesty doesn't kill 'em, their promiscuous sex habits will! I'm still HIV negative (miraculously! I've been no angel.) and refusing sex has not diminished my hope to find "the one."

June 22, 2006: Pride Weekend in Chicago and I found myself in Wisconsin @ a straight Biker Bar!!! Actually, there's a good reason for this: Coach, a professional acquaintance, and his girlfriend sponsor TWO "big cats" (as in LIONS!) at the exotic wildlife preserve, "The Valley of the Kings" (VOTK) and I was invited to accompany Coach and Amy on Saturday for a visit (actually, I badgered Coach until he gave me a specific date). It was one of the most AMAZING life experiences I've ever had. Inches away from Lions and Tigers that weighed 500lbs or more and separated by nothing more than a chain-link fence, I was oddly at peace as I guided raw chicken drumsticks through the holes in the fences for the animals to feed. Again and again, each majestic creature gently accepted my offering, and, a few times, I actually felt the cats' whiskers brush my hand. And when Coach's bike club pulled up (all Harley's, I might add), the awesome cats roared. Andy (our guide) pointed out, matter-of-factly, that they only roared for Harleys (sorry rice-rocket owners :P). One of my favorite moments I was able to experience in solitude: I was walking back to the entrance of the reserve to get my cigarettes through a modest, yet "intimately" close, path between several of the cat's pens. Just as I started down the trail, one of Coach's bike club buddies was pulling in and, instantly, I was surrounded by a deep, comforting chorus of roaring that forced a sensation of serene peace to permeate my soul. THERE ARE NO WORDS TO EXPLAIN THE EXPERIENCE! Well now, I've had major surgery, piloted a plane, witnessed my mom's passing, and hand-fed lions and tigers.... I wonder when I'll finally skydive... hmmmm....

You Are Lightning
Beautiful yet dangerous
People will stop and watch you when you appear
Even though you're capable of random violence

You are best known for: your power

Your dominant state: performing

July 21, 2006: The bank branch that I worked at was robbed. There I am, doing my thing behind the teller line, and I hear, "This is a hold-up." I looked up to see the VERY unfriendly end of a gun pointed at me. The actual experience was very weird. I first thought, "OK, this is a regular of ours. Any second now, he's going to start laughing and say that it's all a joke." Seconds later, I realized this was no joke. As this was happening, a second robber jumped behind the line and cleaned out each of the teller's drawers. Then, they were gone. Immediately, I grabbed a piece of paper and wrote down all the details that I could. The FBI and Chicago police came in and interviewed each of us. I hadn't realized it until I was being interviewed, but the only detail that didn't even cross my mind to write down was the suspect's race. I'm proud of that, though. It was reaffirming to know that the ignorance of racism that courses through Chicago had not infiltrated me!

November 16, 2006: So, it seems the celibacy phase has ended (a while ago, actually). I slipped once in July and then several times in September. Eh, I tried... I failed. No biggie.

Yeah, it's a book! But life should be!
Who I'd like to meet:
Individuals that value honesty, integrity, diversity, individuality, humor, and the sacredness of life ABOVE career advancement, money, high-society status, fashion, sex, and the demise of others. Not to say that ambition is a bad thing, but what one strives for and what one strives to be is the only value by which the creator will judge.
