Arshia Soul is an original soul/funk/rock band based out of the S.F. Bay Area. Arshia Soul creates a unique blend of funky urban soul music with catchy hooks, enticing grooves, and beautiful melodies.
Lead Singer Hayley grew up influenced by the musical melting pot of London, and began to find her own musical voice after moving to the Bay Area in the mid 90’s. Hayley has studied with world-renowned voice coaches Raz Kennedy, Ali Akba, and Richard Jennings. Her music consistently sets her melodic vocals against a soulful, funky vibe. With the San Francisco based disco band Superbooty, Hayley has sung at Bay Area venues such as the Fillmore, Bimbo’s, Slims, the Catalyst, the Exotic Erotic Ball, and the Black & White Ball, and still performs the occasional Superbooty re-union show. Superbooty taught Hayley that a musical group can fulfill people’s deep desire to have frolic and dance, and to enjoy this with “family” versus just a band, brings the enjoyment of performing to the highest level. Arshia Soul is Hayley’s way of fusing this philosophy with a more personal and progressive musical intent.
San Francisco guitarist Anthony Bush has helped create the Arshia Soul sound and character with his perpetually funky riffs, his commanding voice, and his charismatic stage presence. Adan Schwartz is a seasoned keyboardist whose fusion style fits perfectly into Arshia Soul’s niche between rock, funk, and soul. Adam Fumarola brings a background in jazz, rock, and blues drumming, not to mention an inimitable Brooklyn accent.
The name "Arshia Soul" came from Hayley’s desire to incorporate something about her Indian Herritage into the name, Her Dad is from Calcutta, India, and "Arshia" is a Hindu name that means "Heavenly". The word "Soul" embodies everything about Arshia Souls music and was the perfect end to the name.
Arshia Soul will go into the Studio in May 2008 to record a set of songs that promise to be sensual, funky, catchy, and thought-provoking. The goal of this album is to provide a rollercoaster ride you will not want to get off.
