Here's what the critics say about "Drink", the debut album from Green Stick:
"Makes Pennywise seem too laid back..." -Maximum Ink
"...fun hup-two-three punk" -First Avenue's InHouse Magz
"Top Honors....bottom line: I love listening to this disc. Green Stick kicks beer swillin', bar bangin', good times rockin' ass! Thumbs up!" -Pulse Magazine
Founded as a four-piece in 1996, Green Stick Fracture played a fusion of punk and rock in and around Minneapolis. After playing together for four months, they recorded "96 Octane" which never saw the light of day. (Trust me, its better this way.) After the release of their second album "Blue Collar Anthem", they parted ways with their bass player and became a three piece. "Fracture" was dropped from the name and Green Stick was born.
Shortly thereafter, they recorded "Drink" which received some halfway decent reviews from people you've never heard of. Pulse Magazine gave them "Top Honors" but that was probably because they submitted a band photo with the disk which was, apparently, real cutting edge. The album was never formally released however and remains a bootleg to this day. (Which is real punk-rock sounding and all but simply means they were too lazy to release the thing.)
Once, they traveled to West Bend, WI. I think another time or two they got to Michigan. They opened for Murder City Devils at 7th Street Entry. That was sweet. A couple years later Chris and Jim went on to found The Republicans, The Mercy Killers, and Pretty Far Gone. Danny played drums for the Go Nowheres and drank himself into otherworldly adventures.
One night only! Hifi Handgrenades will be at Mugshots in De Pere before taking off for a leg of the Warped Tour and then an expansive European tour with Alkaline Trio and Melloncolin. In the past year or so they have supported many notable acts such as Against Me!, Foo Fighters, Bad Religion, and many others. Hifo Handgrenades has a kick-down, throw-down style that is sure to level any audience to their knees in a beautiful rock- gasm. With The Black Coats, Final Departure , and Pudge supporting, this is going to be a really big show you wont want to miss out on! See you there!
Howdy Brothers, Damn the cow party looks like it gonna be one hell of a good time.. All the best! Bubba. Thanks for stomping by the ol shack to listen to some redneck metal!
