I was born an artist. Ever since I took my first crayon to wall in my mother's living room, art has moved my soul. My work is influenced by two sources. The first is the artists of the abstract expressionist movement from the 1940's through the 1970's. The second is the work of children. That pure, raw innocence, captured in the crayon drawings, and tempra paint images of the untrained.
I have worked as a professional artist for so long I can't remember when it all started. During my art career I have been and am still represented by galleries worldwide, have work in the permanent collections of museums, own a small art gallery, and still work as a studio artist.
Right now my own work is taking a huge left turn to a new direction. I am moving away from the contemporary impressionist landscapes of the past four years and back to my abstract roots. Stay tuned for the ride...things could get a little bumpy in a good way!
The Black Dragon Gallery is my personal studio with a great little gallery space. I'm a full time studio artist so we are open by chance or by appointment except during art shows- the hours for those will be posted. I will be having about 3 or 4 shows a year, I hope to focus on a building a better relationship with the public through educational opportunities, fun & exciting new show concepts and charity events.

R. Robertson is an intuitive painter whose works are inspired by dreams, political and social events, as well as the need to paint. Some have called these works visionary and prophetic. Others simply refer to it as "outsider" or naive in style. Whatever one calls it R. Robertson's paintings and mixed media works are compelling and born from a life of observing and dreaming. Their rich color, texture and subject matter make them appealing to collectors worldwide. R. Robertson is a listed artist with works in museums and too many private collections to list. They are about "Everyman" and for "Everyman"
