.. .... ..Myspace Backgrounds.... ...... .... "THE HILLS WE ONCE CLIMBED WERE JUST SEASONS OUT OF TIME."...... As long as I can remember I wanted to create music like this. It was already a childhood dream to create a magical, musical world where one can get lost and can be found again..... Together with my dearest friend and guitarist Thomas I started re-working the band's recordings for, what was thought to be, a progressive Jazz album..... Then, one cold winter night we crossed the Jannowitzbrücke in Berlin. We did hit the steelen frames with a hammer and recorded the singing of the bridge. This amazing sound was feeding our imagination immediately..... After a long and inspiring musical journey, we now finally found the fitting form to express our ideas in the best possible way..... Viele schoene Gruesse aus Berlin, .. Willem/ Art af Oryx.... PS. No, it's not our first album, it's our: "First Book of Sound." I sincerely hope you'll enjoy our newest music! ...... "On the riverside. Where it all began to shimmer. They vagely shone, the hidden signs, way out of reach and way out of sight..." (Waterfronts and Riversides, "First Book of Sound" 2008).... At the beginning of 2006 Art af Oryx finished up the recordings for an adventurous and highly energetic jazz album presenting AaOs new repertoire. Guitarist Thomas Büchel and bassist Willem van Dijk gradually started re-working the studio recordings and had the dream and the will to take the music somewhere else. Additional recording sessions took place. Beautiful music miniatures and gentle and inviting songs were added. Willem wrote strongly personal lyrics to the new music arising. Carefully found electro-acoustic sounds were integrated. Finally, Thomas and Willem shaped it all into an unexpected, intriguing total-music-concept..... "First Book of Sound" takes the listener to the dark river landscapes of Holland (Willem van Dijks home country) with its silver shining rivers. Or, to all the other places, the listeners imagination wants to take this music to. .... "First Book of Sound" is available as a:.... CD: slipcase, 12-paged booklet..
