About me:

Welcome to the MySpace of art at the heart. A total of 950 delegates met in the desert town of Alice Springs for Regional Arts Australia's sixth biennial conference art at the heart. The conference held from 3-5 October 2008 provided artists, arts workers and arts volunteers the opportunity to gather, discuss, perform and celebrate the arts and cultural achievements of regional Australia.

art at the heart was hosted by the Northern Territory Government through Arts NT in collaboration with the Alice Springs Town Council. The Australian Government supported the conference through the Regional Arts Fund, the Australia Council for the Arts supported the artistic program and the Australian Government Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs supported the Indigenous participation in the conference.

art at the heart presented a dynamic program of visual and performing arts, vital discussions and exchanges about the country’s artistic life, with a particular focus on regional Australia.

The themes that art at the heart explored were:
-Place and identity
-Arts partnership, collaboration and exchanges
-Sustaining participation in the arts
-Creativity, innovation and change

Images and more information on conference sessions will soon be available online at the art at the heart website www.artattheheart.com.au.

Regional Arts Australia seventh national biennial conference will provide an opportunity for artistic and cultural exchange, cross cultural collaboration and best practice approaches to working in the arts.

Hundreds of artists, academics, volunteers, all levels of government and the wider community will gather to discuss, celebrate and experience the arts and cultural achievements of regional Australia.

The Australian Government supports Regional Arts Australia's national conferences through the Regional Arts Fund. The Australia Council for the Arts supports the artistic program for the conference. The Tasmanian Government also provides financial support towards the staging of the 2010 conference through Arts Tasmania. More inforamtion is available at Tasmanian Regional Arts website www.tasregionalarts.org.au

Who I'd like to meet:

Artists, actors, academics, arts workers, curators, filmmakers, musicians, performers, producers, students, volunteers, writers, all levels of government and the wider community to discuss, celebrate and experience the arts and cultural achievements of regional Australia.

If you visit www.redhotarts.com.au and www.topendarts.com.au you can find out more about the arts community in the Northern Territory.

Backbone Youth Arts is calling for Queensland's next wave of artists.

Young and emerging artists!

Backbone Youth Arts is calling for Queensland’s next wave of artists.

The annual 2high Festival is on the hunt for young and emerging artists. Musicians, visual artists and performers are invited to apply for the 2008 festival lineup. The call out has officially commenced!

The 2high Festival is presented by Backbone Youth Arts and will return to consume the Brisbane Powerhouse this November 7th and 8th.

2high Festival is the opportunity for young artists to showcase their work in front of a large audience. Backbone’s Artistic Development Coordinator, Andrew Cory, has been working with the team of festival coordinators to put the feelers out for Queensland’s best emerging talent.

“2high provides artists with their chance to perform at a well known event in a prestigious venue. But beyond that, it gives artists and audiences a chance to fully immerse themselves in the energy of the festival, and realize just how strong the Brisbane arts scene is.”

Because 2high is open to young and emerging art forms, the festival has attracted an extremely diverse array of acts in the past.

Whatever your art form, Backbone Youth Arts encourage you to apply.
Artists can apply by downloading an application form at http://www. backbone. org. au/2high. htm or contacting 3210 2666 for more information. Applications close 5pm Friday 1st August, 2008.
