Art Barz was born Arthur Lee Barnes lll Aon January 28, 1984 in Los Angeles, California. He was raised in a single parent home most of his childhood living with his mother Bridgette Barnes. He was the middle child with an old and younger sister. He moves around a lot in his childhood from city to city. He attended Gardena High School in Gardena, California. He began rapping in 1999 inspired by his then favorite rapper DMX..... At the age of 18 he began working on his first project under the stage name Dashin. With his friend and producer Def Beatz he created his album entitled "The Masterpiece" (2002). After selling a few hundred copies and getting good feedback from his peers he decided that a career in the music was for him. After graduating from Gardena High in 2002 he moved to Rialto, California with his family. From there he decided to try something new and moved to Conroe, Texas. After two years in Texas moved back to California and start working on music with a local indie label Movin Heavy Ent. A year and a half passed and he felt like he wasn't making any progress so decided to part ways with the label. And change his stage name from Dashin to Art Barz, meaning that his bars are his art..... In May 2009 Art Barz released his first mixtape "True Art Vol. 1" for free download with Dj Daaone, Dj Advance and Dj Xklusive. Standout track on the project include "Stay Focused" "Take a Picture" "Forever" "She's Blessed" and "Dying To Live". In September 2009 he released his first album as Art Barz "Dying to Live" produced by Marlon "M80" Smith for download and also pushed copies in the streets..... In November 2009 Art Barz joined the Inland Empire indie label Black Cloud Music. After featuring on Noa James "Sounds of a Monster" Black Cloud Music's "Black Friday Tape" and Curtiss King's "Snick at Night" and Yasin's "War Iza Reality" he dropped his first Black Cloud Music project "Setting The Bar LP" February 22, 2010..... "Setting The Bar LP" is a project Art Barz put together to represent what hip hop is to him. Setting the bar for artist that considers themselves emcees. With production from Curtiss King, Jynxx, Captain, Lz$, Art Barz, Charlie B, Marlon "M80" Smith, The A3 and Versatile Mindz. Featuring Faimkills, Yasin, Noa James, Curtiss King, Kantgetright, Da Realist, Brian James and Tie of Tomorrow, Yesterday. The first single of the project is "Ain't Doin a Thang" featuring and produced by Curtiss King. Other singles include "Get Ran Over and Mr. Unpopular. The album has over 7,000 downloads and is increasing daily.
