Artechick's Interests
|
| General | Visiting the studios in North Country Artist Trails. Reading a good book, living in the now creation zone (the art-making zone), walking down a country road, talking to friends beyond the superficial level. Listening to great, inspiring music, and watching thought-provoking and foreign flicks. Traveling. God this sounds so frigging pretentious, no? | | Music | I like Portishead, Beck, Moby, Johnny Cash, June Carter Cash, Cream, the two bobs, Marley and Dylan. Alicia Keys is nice too. Throw in a little Patsy Cline, and Narls Barkley, Snow Patrol, and Nickelback! I love the old classics, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Tom Petty, and Dolly Parton. Also love John Fogerty, Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez, Woody Guthrie and Bruce Springsteen. Great are: Bon Jovi, Spokane Symphony, The Fat Tones, and Caryfly Band.
Right now, I'm doing research, and I'm a big fan of The Fat Tones, a local band, and also the Planetary Refugees a local band. | | Movies | For movies, I guess I'm a sucker for chick flicks. The last movie I really liked was "Gosford Park". I watched "The Sentinel" but was bored when old man Mike Douglas still gets the hot babe, this time, older babe, still hot, Kim Basinger. Maybe a little "Casablanca" still gets to me, and "Twelve Angry Men" is good too. Even "Saturday Night Fever" still holds up so many years later. I liked the documentary "Born into Brothels". It was pretty brutal, but really, really, good. I just saw "Little Miss Sunshine" -excellent. And "The Secret" -- this a must-see. I really loved "The Magdelene Sisters" and "Maria Full of Grace". I guess there is a Catholic theme going here! | | Television | Right now, Six Degrees, for new shows it's canceled until summer!!! boo hoo, and very much "The Office" of course, and Always, "Desperate Housewives". But more and more, I find myself watching Court TV. Court TV always reminds me it could be a lot worse! Right now, watching American Idol, but it's pretty boring at the moment. Now they have made us folks pay for Court TV.
I'm looking forward to leaving the tube off when we change our satellite dish. I'm hating the summer gar-bage that is on now! | | Books | "Things Fall Apart" by African author, Chinua Achebe. A great book, incredible. I learned a lot. "The Inheritance of Loss" by Kiran Desai is the book I'm reading now. It's a great book. Finished "Until I Find You" by John Irving. I'm sure this book will be made into a movie.
I just finished reading Virgin Blue, very good. Kind of wierd. But good. | | Heroes | I think my hero is anyone that perseveres against all odds, self-doubt, and financial obstacles. Life is stressful, and it's because of fear. Fear of the unknown.
Ralph Waldo Emerson said: "None of us will ever accomplish anything excellent or commanding except when he listens to this whisper which is heard by him alone." And "People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of their character." |

Who I'd like to meet:
Everyone that is in my life is supposed to be. We learn from each other. I only have supportive loving folks in my life.
Everything is choice. We all have choices to make every day. Make the choice to meet me. I'm worth it. I'll also a lunatic! Can't you tell? I have histrionic personality disorder, not to mention narcissistic personality disorder as well. In other words, I'm a handful!!! But I do think YOU have a story to tell...so tell it!
