Artefact is a black metal band from France. According to the band itself, its name is taken from the medieval fantasy universe, and evokes a magical item. Its music, delving largely into influences such as Emperor, Arcturus, Bathory, Opeth, Burzum, Dimmu Borgir, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Satyricon, is a colourful mixture between different genres: folk or medieval tunes, ethereal moods, powerful and massive heavy metal composition, as well as a touch of progressive music in its arrangements. However different, all these elements succeed in blending together in carefully constructed, narrative and unity-seeking musical pieces.
Son Of Solstice era (2000-2003)
Artefact was created in year 2000, by guitarist Aldebaran, and Alucard. Together, they composed and recorded a demo, Same, and determined the musical orientation of their project. Meeting with Ranko (drums), Alexis (bass), from Oktopod, and Camille (guitar) in 2002 allowed the group to prepare for a first album. By then Alucard was willing to leave, not having time enough. A line-up of four was thus established. 2003: Artefact recorded his first album, Son of Solstice, Kallaghan’s studio, with singer Sly from Shimmer of Chaos. An opus quite favourably received at the time. Then the band invited a new singer, Runenlyd , who currently sings and plays also as a guitarist in Deviance.
Magic Spellcraft (2003-2006)
August 2004: Artefact was representative of France, and more particularly of south east France and County of Nizza (Nice), in the Wacken Battle, which contest occurs during the Heavy Metal Festival Wacken Open Air. The band earned a third prize, which helped them composing, then recording a second opus, Magic Spellcraft, which included new epics, and strong aggressive pieces. Magic Spellcraft was produced by Rupture Music, and was released on the 18th april 2006.The new opus was quite well received and got positive reviews, for instance in "Metallian", and "Nightfall.fr". Then two new members joined the band: Sephiroth (keyboards) in 2006, as well as Olwe Telrunya (guitar) in 2007.
Ruins Age (2007-2008)
Ruins, the next album is coming out. Artefact is back to the source, performing a black-Metal that is still melodic and atmospheric, yet with an emphasis on the medieval landscape riffs.
Recorded by Runenlyd in live conditions, "Ruins" has an authentic, clear and powerful sound.
I am now recording for a new set of releases called the "Persona Series". These cassettes will be commissioned works (not by content, but by payment) for individuals. If John Smith in London, England wants his own Zebulon Kosted album, I will make a 45 minute album (one side of a 90 minute tape), 2 hand drawn mini posters, I will name the album after him (Zebulon Kosted - John Smith), and the fan will retain all rights to the recording (for use of any future release, sampling, or broadcasting rights). One copy of the album will remain in my personal collection, and one will be sent to the customer, so that the only copy that will be in circulation will be John Smiths copy! Each album is available for the ridiculously low price of $10 (not including shipping), and will be shipped in its completed form no later than 6 weeks from the date of purchase!!!

Salut! Venu de la scène poitevine avec deux excellente pointure de la scène metal française...
Valuatir est une des rare formation français qui utilise plusieurs cornemuse, tout en posant un black metal excellant, avec un chant français que je trouve assez excellant, inspirait par les légende poitevine et gauloise. A noter aussi que valuatir a été inviter pour le cernunnos pagan fest 2008, a Paris, pour l'ouverture du festival...
Quintessence est un groupe de true black metal de Poitier avec un chant en français, une bonne de courte en perspective
Quand a pestiferum, c'est un groupe de local, qui a notamment participer notre traditionnel nuit en enfer 5 aussi, a savoir que les pestiferum prépare un nouvel album...
A noter aussi que le label LEGION OF DEATH, (de Poitier) sera aussi présent sur place, avec un stand rempli de rareté excellente...

Bonnes reprises de deux de mes groupes fétiches. C'est une bonne décision d'avoir choisit la seul chanson d'arcturus où ihsahn chante étant donné que le rendu de la voix est très bon et parfois étonnamment proche de l'empereur. Le son kitch des claviers nous rapelle le charme originel d'Arcturus, chose que je trouve bienvenue sur un tribute aussi respecteux. Ces deux tributes sont en tous cas d'excellentes idées. Félicitations encore pour votre Ruins très complet et pour le compositeur de "Stellar Winds" ou comment exprimer une sorte de hargne joyeuse absolument pas ridicule, très puissante !
J'étais venu faire de la pub. Ainsi je vous invite a venir faire un petit tour sur notre myspace puisque nous avons mis en ligne une chanson de notre démo en cours de pressage. Je tient a spécifier que le son est assez pro, black et sans fioritures.
