DJ SirReal, aka. Jacob Valentino when on the radio, stands out from other DJ's by being able to smoothly and stylishly incorporate the hypeness, flair, and crowd-reading abilities of a club DJ, with the scratch technique and mint-fresh mixes of a battle DJ, then top it off with the song selection, timing, and awareness of a Professional Sports/ Radio DJ. A rare thing to see in these days where the art of beatmixing is disappearing, and a true "old school" battle dj's are fading into obscurity.
With 16+ years of live giging experience, DJ SirReal is a perfect blend of the "old" and the "new." Fusing together Funk, Soul, Electro House, Rock, Reggae, Hip Hop and Drum & Bass, into seamless, harmonically beat mixed sets. His roots stem from all night underground techno parties in Detroit, touring with live bands such as The Howling Diablos, Kid Rock and the Artfull Dodgers, DJing for a variety of Professional and Amateur sporting events, and competing at DJ battles all over the midwest.
DJ SirReal aka. Jacob Valentino has a radio show and appears live every at the Motor City Casino's Radio Bar 3 days a week. DJ SirReal is also the official DJ for all the Xtreme Cagefighting Championships, Michigan's BEST amateur MMA circut. Even with such diverse gigs, Jacob also finds the time to produce music ranging from acoustic rock to tech house, and incorporates his original work into his smooth, sexy and unique sets. His residencies include Thursdays at Sakana Sushi Lounge in Ferndale, and Fridays and Saturdays at Pulse Detroit and helped Pulse earn best DJ from CitySearch.
DJ SirReal's current projects include the Real Action Figures with DJ Zack Daniels, and cartoonist Robert January. The project is a multi-media story that includes a mix tape using Serato Scratch Live, a comic book, and action figures. He is also always working on new battle routines, mix tapes, and production. You can find him opening for a wide range of talent such as Tom Petty, Bad Boy Bill, Kid Rock, Q-Bert, and George Clinton. Yet wherever he spins at, Jacob Valentino aka. DJ SirReal realizes its not just his job to bring the heart and soul of Detroit to the people, its a privilage and a responsibility.

JOIN US EVERY FRIDAY @ VIA NOVE 4 AURORA [NO COVER 21+] FEATURING [FRIDAY] 10/3 : JOHN ARNOLD [Ubiquity,Transmat,Exbmusic] It was through word of mouth that Arnold caught the attention of such techno luminaries as Derrick May and Carl Craig. Craig was so impressed with Arnold's work that he invited him to perform live at the inaugural Detroit Electronic Music Festival in 2000, and May issued Arnold's solo debut, Universal Mind on Fragile (Transmat's sister label), that same year. A release on Transmat would happen four years later and Arnold also found great interest from the California imprint Ubiquity. Several singles and remixes later, Ubiquity released Arnold's debut full-length, Neighborhood Science, in 2004. The album featured a veritable who's who of the Detroit electronic-jazz scene, including notable contributions from Ayro, Malik Alston, and Amp Fiddler. The follow-up, Style and Pattern, was released in November of 2005 on Ubiquity, and once again featured Detroit luminaries such as jazz legend Wendell Harrison, Parliament/Funkadelic percussionist Larry Fratangelo, and Mahogani Music producer/bassist Paul Randolph. — Rob Theakston, All Music Guide
