In celebration of The Woodruff Arts Center’s 40th Anniversary, FunkJazz Kafe producer, Jason Orr has been contracted to produce “Art Fusion 40″. As Orr explains, “it’s similiar to what you would see and experience at FJK, especially in our marketplace with exhibitors, cultural dance music, roaming performers and so forth but on the campus of Woodruff Arts Center and High Museum. The event is FREE on top of that! What a way to give back to the community. I feel great about it and see it being the beginning of something that will be a great reflection of Atlanta’s rich cultural arts community. Hopefully we’ll see Art Fusion 41 next year and watch it grow from here. Besides, this is a great way to wet your appitites for the next FJK.”

On October 18th, Join The Woodruff Arts Center in it’s 40th Year Anniversary celebration, “Art Fusion 40″. “Art Fusion 40″ will be an extraordinary evening of art, music, dancing, film, poetry and global culture. The first festival of it’s kind in the Woodruff Arts Center and High Museum and it’s FREE to the public (ages 21 & over).
“Art Fusion 40″ will highlight interaction with various cultural lifestyle activities such as “Café My Tunes”, a suite where patrons are invited to bring their mp3 players and contribute to the digital DJ’s mix of music, visual artist will create artworks live, patrons can contribute to a collective artwork in an interactive art gallery, open mic poetry, dancing to high energy global sounds with roaming fire performers and DJ Kemit in the Piazza of the Woodruff and High Museum. Capoeira-Angola martial artists and AfriSalsa classes in the Woodruff Art Center’s Galleria.
But wait, here are other items “Art Fusion 40” has on it’s menu:
* The Latin American Film Festival will be screening “Personal Belongings” in the Rich theater from 8:00pm until 9:30pm.
* The SCAD gallery will feature Kader Attia’s “Untitled (Skyline)” consisting of 80 discarded refrigerators painted black and covered in tiny, geometric mirror “windows.”
* The documentary film “Democracy In Dakar” hosted by Tenecio Seanima of WRFG, bridging the gap between hip-hop and activism.
* V103’s Joyce Latell, founder of “Poetry and Passion”, will be hosting a $500 poetry slam in the Alliance theater at 10:30pm.
* Leave a video confession in our “Confessions Room” with Rolling Out magazine.
* An exclusive preview of forthcoming new music from legendary house DJ, Lil Louis outdoors in the Piazza.
