Arthritic Foot Soldiers came to fruition via a hair brained idea that singer Munki Boi had one rainy afternoon in Manchester (UK).He thought to himself that after recording a track for the Gnarly Dude album (under the pseudonym Slamaster J) that it would be fun to try and put a punk band together, after a half hearted attempt in the early 80's came to nothing. This idea was mentioned in passing to guitarist CJ and the next thing he knows Munki Boi is penning lyrics for the soon to be released E.P. Texas Idiot (see reviews on web site www.afs.me.uk) within a couple of weeks ramshackle practice sessions were taking place in CJ's lounge on a Sunday afternoon.
To cut a long story short we recruited the services of drummer Robin Hazelhurst (from Pike) for recording purposes and five weeks after first jam we are about to release our first, self produced "Texas Idiot" E.P.
Mr. Munki has chosen to write songs about everyday life, the things we love and some of the things we pretty much hate too!, his influences are firmly rooted in Punk Rock and this shows through in his shouty old skool vocal style.
The band is about having fun, not being PC, not comforming to what a bunch of late 30 early 40 somethings should be and generally sticking two fingers up at society in general, (or your middle finger if your American). Love us or hate us - we are here to stay and this just shows the doubters out there what you can do if you truly believe in something.
Our debut album “Tales of a Drunken Generation” was out in 2005 on Voltage Records and a live EP was released later that year entitled “Only Beer Can Save Us Now!”
2007, we have released our second Album ...Delirium Tremors here in the UK october 07 and in the USA nov 08
We have been over to the USA to record our 3rd full album called "Immature Nobodies" in aug 08 for Turkey Vulture Records to be relased only in the USA IN jan 09
The opening track is now the first song to play
Whoever said Punk is Dead is a c**t
p.s, AFS (Arthritic Foot Soldiers) is the name Sidewalk Skateboarding
Magazine called the www.middle-age-shred.com skaters (which we are all part off), so that's why we have a stupid name
You asked where you can hear my music, go to My Myspace page and both Former-70 and Dead Cowboy Rebellion in the top friends aremy music. The DCR is newer stuff, but just got a new REAL vocal mic and have to redo the vox to that and "Girlfrend."
For now though, this is what I am doing. Finishing the soundtrack to the movie which I also have a bit part in. I'm the bloody Doc with the zombie on the table in front of him.
