The mission of the Arthritis Foundation is to improve lives through leadership in the prevention, control and cure of arthritis and related diseases. The Arthritis Foundation is the only voluntary agency working to improve the lives of people with arthritis. Serving Nassau and Suffolk Counties, the Long Island Chapter has developed an extensive program of services to help the over 400,000 Long Island men, women and children with arthritis and their family members. These services range from education, literature, lectures presented across Long Island, Telephone Help Line, land and water exercise programs, support groups and special topic seminars. ARTHRITIS FACTS: Arthritis is the leading cause of disability in America. There are over 100 forms of Arthritis. There are approx. 46 million Americans living with Arthritis. Juvenile Arthritis strikes infants, toddlers, young children, and teens. Nearly 300,000 children nation wide live with the effects of Juvenile Arthritis and about 428,000 Long Islanders are affected. Arthritis can shorten your life and may substantially influence the quality of your life.Movies
