Arthur and Martha are stage names. Arthur and Martha are Adam Cresswell and Alice Hubley.
Adam was the founding member of beard-stroking folkatronica indie-band, Saloon. They played lots of gigs, made some records, shot to number 1 in John Peel’s festive chart and then fell off the side of the world. Alice was in party-girl band The Duloks one night she jumped ship and also fell off the side of the world.
They met, picked themselves up and on the side of a European autovia somewhere were born again as Arthur and Martha. By bringing together their rag-tag collection of moogs, melodicas and an antique drum-machine, they penned the songs for the robots to dance to.
The bands début single Autovia was described by the NME as "a British spin on The Postal Service, or Aphex Twin remixing the contents of NME’s seminal ’C86’ tape…more than worthy of your time" and they have shared the stage with such luminaries as Lo-Fi Fnk, Grovesnor, Plastic Operator and Sportsday Megaphone.
The début album Navigation is released on the 6th July with a single 'Music For Hairproducts' released on 29th June.

The album is lovely ! Favourite song at the moment is "turn to dust" (cause I would sometimes like to escape with someone too - don't know who with and where to though, hahaha). I have just ordered a second copy cause it will make a damn fine present for one of my friends !
