Artic Circle is an alternative ambient band from Barreiro, Portugal, that was formed in 2001 by José Manuel Mattos. The band was originally released groove box music before making their major label Wii_RECORDS 2003. In 2002, Jorge Pires joined the band playing electric bass.
Mattos established himself with a large and stylistically diverse releases on electronic and dance music, but as his music found increasing exposure outside of Barreiro, and outside of lisbon. His music came to be released on a wider range of radios, and clubs.
