Safaree Samuels takes aim at the rapper and Nicki's new boyfriend.
Safaree Samuels used to play a key role in Nicki Minaj's life and career. They dated for a decade, and he executive produced Nicki's 2012 album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, though while keeping their relationship under wraps. Now, however, Safaree makes no secret of how he feels about Nicki's new boyfriend, rapper Meek Mill. In diss track "Lifeline," Safaree spits of how Meek can't measure up, to either rap's biggest players ("You're dreaming about Drake's numbers in your Nightmares") or his apparent influence on Nicki's life ("My dickprint on it"). But even his best quips aren't enough to make "Lifeline" listenable, not when his flow switch-ups—what should be proof that he can actually rap, and not just be clever—sound so stilted.
