We’re getting dangerously “Close” to the release of Nick’s second solo record.

Nick Jonas is a sweetheart. He recently announced that he wants to create “a board of fan ambassadors” in order to have “an even deeper connection” with his fans. He sings, dances, acts and occasionally strips down because he knows how the pop world works. And when he gets his heart broken, the world weeps with him.

His breakup last summer gave him enough inspiration for a whole record and Last Year Was Complicated finally hits stores on June 10. With only a little more than a week left before we can hear the new collection of Nickbangers, we’re guiding you through this new chapter in Sexy Jonas’ career.

His Last One Was a Hit

2014’s Nick Jonas LP was in fact Nick’s second non-Jonas Brothers release after 2010's Nick Jonas & Administration unleashed Who I Am. The band played more blues-oriented music, so it’s safe to say that Nick only truly discovered who he were with the arrival of Nick Jonas, which turned 1/3 of Jonas Brothers into a full-blown solo popstar and even got a re-release last year.

The Record’s About Miss Universe 2012

Nick has been dating Olivia Culpo aka Miss Universe 2012 for two years, and she even appeared in his video for “Jealous.” But last summer the gorgeous couple decided to part ways, giving Nick enough inspiration for his sophomore solo record. We all know that broken hearts dictate the best pop songs, so we can’t wait to hear and possibly cry our hearts out to his new tunes. “Shit is too real sometimes...Reliving some of these real life experiences through this music is hard," Jonas tweeted back in March. “But I know it's important that I do it. I want to be an open book in my art.”

Jay-Z Helped Pick the Title

Leave it up to Carson Daly to get the juiciest details about future records. During his interview with Jonas on 97.1 AMP Radio’s morning show, the radio host learned that Jay-Z advised Nick to change the title of the new record from Unhinged to something that would sum up his last year better. That’s how Jonas ended up with pretty self-explanatory Last Year Was Complicated. If that’s the only thing that bothered the mighty Z about the album, then we’re in for a treat.

His Sensual Duet with Tove Lo

Swedish songtress Tove Lo initially got famous for the song listing all of her bad “Habits,” but these days she’s addicted to collaborating with famous boys. Flume, Alesso, Years & Years, Seven Lions, Adam Lambert and Coldplay all got the chance to score some studio time with the rising star. But “Close”—her steamy duet with Nick Jonas that serves as the lead single for Jonas’ new record—is her most successful non-solo effort to date. And don’t even get us started on that sextastic video that sees the couple swinging around in nothing but their underwear...

There Are a Lot of Other Guests, Too

Apart from Tove Lo, Jonas has gathered quite a star-studded crowd for the new album. Ty Dolla $ign will rap on “Bacon,” while Big Sean will help Jonas sing about “Good Girls." Nashville-based pop singer Daniella Mason, who co-penned “Push” for Jonas’ previous album, is also set to guest star on the new record.

There Is a Max Martin Song On the Record

The song that’s most likely to stand out the most on the album is “Under You,” which was produced and co-written by the Godfather of Pop Max Martin and co-produced by another hitmaker, Shellback, who worked with basically every big popstar from Britney Spears to Taylor Swift. The song was also co-written by Bebe Rexha, who’s enjoying another chart reign at the moment with her G-Eazy collaboration “Me, Myself & I” as well as her own banger “No Broken Hearts.” Jonas has been playing the song live since last year, so the fans have been begging for the studio version for a while.

His Videos Featuring Supermodels

When you have a guy as talented and good-looking as Nick, you should always expect a supermodel to show up nearby. That’s why his latest video, “Chainsaw,” stars one of Victoria’s Secret angels, Sara Sampaio. We hope Jonas didn’t let Sara off the set without exchanging digits with the gorgeous model.

More Promo Means More Photoshoots

Back in 2014 Nick Jonas got everyone a little too excited with his re-imagination of that classic '90s Mark Walberg photoshoot for Flaunt magazine. And the camera surely loves him: since releasing his last album, he also starred in two TV shows—Scream Queens and Kingdom. The feature film Careful What You Wish For puts Nick front and center and hits the theaters the same day as his new record. It’s described as an erotic thriller, so that’s something no Jonas fan will want to miss.
