MANIFESTO DELL'ARTE SACRA FUTURISTA (1932)
Premesso che non fu indispensabile praticare la religione cattolica per creare capolavori d'Arte Sacra, premesso d'altra parte che un'arte senza evoluzione è destinata a morire, il Futurismo, distributore di energie, pone all'Arta Sacra il seguente dilemma: o rinunciare a qualsiasi azione esaltatrice sui fedeli o rinnovarsi completamente mediante sintesi, transfigurazione, dinamismo di tempo-spazio compenetrati, simultaneità di stati d'animo, splendore geometrico dell'estetica della macchina.
L'uso della luce elettrica per decorare le chiese col suo fulgore bianco-azzurro superiore in purezza celestiale a quello rosso-giallo carnale lussorioso delle candele, le meravigliose pitture sacre di Gerardo Dottori, primo futurista che rinnovò con originale intensità l'Arte Sacra., gli affreschi futuristi di Gino Severini nelle chiese svizzere, le molte cattedrali futuriste con un dinamismo di forme in cemento armato, cristallo ed acciaio realizzate in Germania e Svizzera, sono i segni di questo indispensabile rinnovamento dell'Arte Sacra.
Infatti:
soltanto gli artisti futuristi, perché ricchi di una immaginazione illimitata, possono dipingere o costruire un Inferno tale da terrorizzare le generazioni che hanno subito eroicamente gli infernali bombardamenti del Carso e sono allenati ad una vita meccanizzata più pericolosa delle fiammelle da gas povero dell'Inferno tradizionale; soltanto gli aeropittori futuristi, maestri delle prospettive aeree e abituati a dipingere in volo dall'alto, possono esprimere plasticamente il fascino abissale e le trasparenze beate dell'infinito. Ciò invece non è consentito ai pittori tradizionali, tutti più o meno legati dall'ossessionante realismo, tutti ineluttabilmente terrestri e quindi incapaci d'innalzarsi fino ad un'astrazione mistica; soltanto gli artisti futuristi ansiosi di originalità ad ogni costo e sistematici odiatori del già visto, possono dare al quadro, all'affresco e al complesso plastico la potenza di sorpresa magica necessaria per esprimere miracoli; soltanto gli artisti futuristi, che da vent'anni impongono nell'arte l'arduo problema della simultaneità possono esprimere chiaramente, con adeguate compenetrazioni di tempo-spazio, i dogmi simultanei del culto cattolico, come la Santa Trinità, l'Immacolata Concezione e il Calvario di Dio; soltanto artisti futuristi elettrizzati di ottimismo colore e fantasia come possono oggi precisare in un'opera d'Arte Sacra la beatitudine del Paradiso ecc.

Knowing that it was not necessary to practice the Catholic religion to create masterpieces of religious art, circumstances, moreover, that evolution is an art not to die, the future, energy distributors, sacred art poses the following dilemma: either waive any action or exalt the faithful renew completely by synthetic transfiguration, the dynamics of time-space interpenetrate, simultaneity of states of mind, geometric splendor of the machine.
The use of electric lights to decorate the church with its blue-white radiance celestial purity higher than red-yellow flesh Lussorio of candles, the beautiful paintings of sacred Gerardo Dottori, first futurist with renewed intensity the original Sacred Art. , futurist Gino Severini's frescoes in the churches in Switzerland, the many cathedrals in the future with a dynamic form of concrete, glass and steel made in Germany and Switzerland, are the signs of the essential renewal of sacred art.
