Good Day .. I leave these here for YOU* today.. some of what I tend to think about on this day.. some find meaning for to many things as to what 11/11/11 is for them and the significance of then ending of WWI.. having had my Grandfather fought in WWII and my Dad being a LT. Commander in the Navy and working in Top Secrect Communications in the Pentagon when President Kennedy was assassinated, also during Viet Nam war, and the Cuban Missile Crisis(after these events and Kennedy's assassination, he said the hell with this shit..and got out)but... I have come to hear horrible things that sum do not get publicized. (also, many grand things he was able to experience and know, great time in history and people) but today many remember many things... and pay homage to .... have a great Veterans Day... The Syrian town "Bosra" is the site of some of the most spectacular Roman ruins in the world. Bosra is home to marvelous sites like the miraculously-preserved Roman amphitheatre, which can accommodate up to 15,000 people and is built in such a way that the sound from the stage can be heard from all corners of the theatre without the aid of technological equipment.
Bosra was the first Nabatean city in the 2nd century BC. The Nabatean Kingdom was conquered by Cornelius Palma, a general of Trajan, in 106. In its heyday, the theater was faced with marble and draped in silk hangings, and during performances a fine mist of perfumed water was sprayed over the patrons to keep them comfortable in the desert heart. A large area in front of the stage may have been used for circuses or gladiatorial shows.
Today, Bosra is a major archaeological site, containing ruins from Roman, Byzantine, and Muslim times. Every year there is a national music festival hosted in the theater.
