Many great musicians have played the AQ, including Roy Haynes, Mose Allison, Joey DeFrancesco, Sweets Edison, Lew Tabackin, Eric Alexander, Jack McDuff, Dewey Redman, Curtis Fuller, Benny Golson and others. Roy Haynes, Bill Carrothers, Dean Granros, David Hazeltine and Lee Konitz have all recorded live Albums at the Artists' Quarter.
Roy Haynes earned a Grammy nomination in the Best Jazz Instrumental Solo category for his drum solo, “Hippidy Hop” from the live album, Whereas record at the Artists' Quarter in 2006.
About me: As you walk in, say hi the our doorman, Davis. He is about the hippest cat around. Ask him about when he was on "Jeapardy." The bartenders are friendly and ready to set you up with whatever you want to drink (alcoholic or non) as you watch incredible Jazz acts on this historic stage.
