Kay Hanley and Michelle Lewis are friends... and band mates... and songwriting partners... You get the idea. One day Kay said to Michelle "let's do something that will make us some money, for a change." "What a novel idea!" Michelle responded. "Let's be moguls," said Kay. "OK," Michelle said.
So they made up a TV show and sold it to Disney. And then they helped 3 young girls from SoCal find each other and form a band (called Shut Up Stella), then they got them signed to a record label and got them a pilot on MTV.
"Whew... I'm tired," said Michelle.
"Keep your eye on the fucking prize, Lewis" said Kay.
"But I just had a baby," complained Michelle.
"Don't be a pussy" said Kay.
So they are soldiering on. Because art IS a war. And Kay and Michelle choose to fight it every day for the artists, music and ideas they believe in.
