(amp) is a London based not-for-profit cooperative. We put on live music and art-type events for Non-Governmental
Organisations (NGOs) and charities. Our aim is threefold
1 Both art and music are powerful mediums which at their most potent
smash through all boundaries of race, gender, class etc. Our events draw a diverse crowd and we hope that we can use this energy to
help NGOs get their message across. amp focuses on three main areas of
concern: Trade Justice; the Environment; and Human Rights.
2 We began in October '04 since when weve developed a reputation for giving a stage to great new bands as well as become a sought after slot by managers who want exposure for their breakthrough acts. Weve a growing reputation for innovative nights which have included extempore art, fashion shows and new media projects, as well as hosting photographers, sculptors and other artists. As a young organisation we believe that we're all in it together. It seems obvious to say it, but we can't rely on anyone from up above to help us out, but that's a strength because it means we are self-reliant, often bypassing the industry altogether and hooking into that huge network of people doing interesting stuff.
There's loads of people out there embarked on all sorts of innovative projects and it
only takes a bit of imagination to see the power in it. If we make the
connections now then they'll last into the future and if we remember where we
came from we'll be able to help the next generation and the one after that and the one after that...
3 And lastly but firstly it's our mission to put on a f**king amazing night!!! Nuff said.
