   About ART PAUL SCHLOSSER
Hi, I'm Art Paul Schlosser a Street musician, who performs regularly on State street here in Madison,Wisconsin usually on Fridays and Saturdays but if you don't see it might be because I'm taking care of my kid Simon.

I am also an artist.

You can see what most of my paintings look like in the photo section of this myspace.

& Currently I'm selling all my paintings for $30 dollars to reduce the stock.

So if you see a picture of one you like send me a message and I tell you how big it is and more details about it and if you still want to buy it I can take it to the post office to see what it will cost you to have me mail it to you.

Hey check out the painting in this video called Xmas Morgue: I hope you like the song and if you do you can now get it at Apple iTunes ART PAUL SCHLOSSER.. You can also get the CD called The ABCs of Art Paul Schlosser's World at: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/artpaul14 or just click on the picture of the CD: ART PAUL SCHLOSSER: The ABCs of ART PAUL SCHLOSSER's World

Actaully maybe you want to know the order they came out ?

Well my first recordings were just like Daniel Johnston's even though I never heard of him at the time. They were cassette tapes that I recorded on a Boombox cassette player.

I doubt there are too many of them left but some people might have a couple and the 1st one was called Hi,How Are You which is the same name that Daniel Johnston gave to his cassette tape.

But I actaully wrote a song called Hi, How Are You so it wasn't just the name of the cassette tape and if I had known about Daniel's I might have not named it that.

It came out in 1988 and right away I put out another one called Living in Wisconsin.

That summer I recorded a couple of them and there was maybe 7 Boombox recordings including The Blues + 2 which included Vegetables and Lemonade,Covers & He Died on A Cross for Me

So as I was doing this some people were complaining about the quality of my recordings so in the fall of 1988 a friend of mine let me record a cassette tape in the basement of WORT 89.9 it was the first version of My Cat Was Taking A Bath.

But if you have it and compare it to the songs on this CD you might have the rarer one that I lost the original from: 1.album cover So my first CD was My Cat Was Taking A Bath & Dead Skunk Perfume plus 23 others songs and it came out in 1990 but actaully the songs on this recording were recorded after the songs the cassette Happy Birthday which I used on my second CD.

What happened was when I was mass producing copies of the cassette tape My Cat was Taking A Bath I think I might have sold the master cassette tape so in doing so I had to rerecord this cassette tape and ended up with a different track list and slightly different versions of some of the songs.

I chose My Cat Was Taking A Bath for my first CD because it was my most popular cassette tape and because Sly in the morning was playing Purple Bananas on the Moon all the time.

So I was at Mile's Teddy Wedgers on the square and I was talking about recording the lady working there at the time was either a friend of Rapscallion or Van Wie or maybe it was Last Crack anyways she suggested I try recording at Randy's Recording so I called Randy up who is not in the yellow pages section of the phone book but rather I found him by either an ad or Randolph Green in the residential section but if you like he now has a website at http;//www.randysrecording.com and I asked him to record me and that began a long period of recording which includes most of the CDs here: 2.album cover So if your interested in the knowing the facts I recorded Happy Birthday the cassette tape in Dec 1989 but the CD didn't come out until 1991.Back in those days it was easier and faster to put out cassette tapes becasue you could make as little as you wanted to but CDs you were required to make at least 500 if not a Thousand.I am not sure how many copies of My Cat Was Taking A Bath & Dead Skunk Perfume there are but I believe it was 500 or a Thousand and they are all gone but the few at CD Baby and the one or 2 copies I have at home.

My Third CD was another combined 2 cassettes but I was more selective and chose 2 I thought would be popular.I thought I Want To Be Madonna ? & Greene plus 41 other songs and jokes was going to be a fast seller because the cassette tape of I Want To Be Madonna ? sold well but people didn't understand the song I want To Be Madonna ? I was on MTV doing it but they thought it was a tribute to Madonna when it was kind of being funny. One of the strangest songs on this CD is Santa is in Jail has helped to sell the CD a little in Madison but for the most part I had this one on CD Baby for years and know one check it out. 3.album cover My 4th CD I'm a Prince by the Artist still known as Art Paul Schlosser was my first CD to not come from 2 cassette tapes though I did throw in a few popular songs from cassette tapes at the end of the CD but to the most part more of the songs are only on this CD.It also was different because I recorded the first 23 songs on Electric Guitar. The Title was an idea that Derek from Ivory Library ask me about. He said are you going to change your name too so I decided that is Prince was no longer a Prince but was now an Artist well then I would become a prince but keep my name the same. 4.album cover My 5th CD put out in Decmeber 1996 or 1997 brought me back to folk music but I played alot of it blues style and wrote alot of strange love songs for the Cd so I called it Be My Valentine.I had a very successful CD release party at OCayz Corral with Digibot and another really cool band at the time. The CD also got a nice review by the Isthmus. The cover is a drawing by Dan Huran who drew me from behind me and gave me the picture. 5.album cover Well along this time 2000 I was trying to get my music on the Dr Demento radio show and I had given him copies of some of the other CDs but he just didn't play them because he was worried that his audience might not like them but I'm not the type to give up.So because Reinventing myself was very popular I send it to Dr Demento and for some reason I had forgot I said "And here is my new number one hit " and the next thing you know he started to play that song Have A Peanut Butter Sandwich in April 2001. The CD was around for awhile since 1999 and it was getting a few sales because it was an all Electric Keyboard CD which is why it is called Reinventing Myself. The Cover was designed by Jeff Berry who had entered my CD Cover contest mention in David Medaris's column in the Isthmus.I like the cover because it looks like a rocket ship but if I had really looked at the cover I might have changed my mind because it also is a kazoo but there isn't any kazoo on Reinventing Myself 6.album cover So in 2000 or so I was E-mailed an E-mail from a guy who started a little label he called little hands and he said he wanted to make a best of CD but I wasn't sure I wanted to do that or not but I had just recorded these 2 cassete tapes and one had a bunch of new weird songs one or two on Ukulele and the other hand a cross between some of my hits which I recorded on Ukulele and a bunch of old traditional blue grass folk tunes which I played on Ukulele using some finger picking.Well I sent him the cassette tapes and he liked them and gave me copies from his label. They were all burned CDs put in cardboard folders and numbered except for about 5 I recently had made for CD Baby.I think there are only about 75 but there might be a few in Michagan that no one bought. It was a really strange experiance first some DJ comes from Michagan I believe Ann Arbor and I send him my CD after E-mailing him a couple times.I believe the radio station is WCBN then I get the E-mail from this guy who is putting out these CDs and he send me 25 and them 50 more. Then some guy starts sending me money first $50 dollars for 2 CDs and then he wants to have me come to Michigan and play and he sends me $100 which is part of $300 he is going to send me then I hear from him no more.Well anyway here is the CD that little hands produced. What I think is really odd is right after the guy who wanted me to come to Michagan buys a copy of They Won't Play This On The Country Western Radio is when he quite writing me.I rteid to send him an E-mail but the computer said he wasn't excepting E-mail from me. I think it would have been fun to play there but we'll never know. 7.album cover Well right after this I recorded my first full length cassette that I put on CD later. It was called Smile You're On Kandid Kamera and it was recorded in the summer of 2001 or was it 2000 anyway it started to get popular so I sent the CD which didn't come out until 2002 to Dr Demento because it had the song The Backstreet Boys(I Want To Kill Them) unfortunitely I'm not the only person to come up with this idea.Still the CD has sold pretty good and maybe you would like to check it out: 8.album cover So about July 2001 I ment the Great LukeSki and he bought all my CDs. Then I had him on my TV show in the fall and he contacted me every now and then and one time we were discussing radio airplay and he suggested I put out a Best of CD which would make it easier for radio shows to know what to play of my music. So I thought well what would be my best song and Luke produce a CD for me.The CD cover is a picture of me and Simon at this Christmas party at WYOU December 2002.The CD was produce and given out as a demo by Luke in 2002 and Purple Bananas On The Moon was played on The Dr Demento show but the CD didn't come out until 2003. 9.album cover The Best of was the First of my CDs to go into Apple iTunes and the other download stores. ART PAUL SCHLOSSER I also put out 2 live CDs in 2003.The First one was Art Paul Schlosser live at The Hog and it was released with a performance at The Wild Hog in the Woods Coffee House. 10.album cover The Other one was a live performance at the Club De Wash. Both of these CDs where tapes that where made while I was performing. The live at the Hog one I had intended to put out earlier but didn't feel it was good enough but after listening to it again thought it was very good because it includes my mistakes and shows just what it is like to see me live. The Club De Wash one sounds just what it was like to perform at Club De Wash. The Club De Wash one was a little short so I had a couple of songs that I recorded with Robert Monthey who I used to call Bob that I threw in on the recording just because I didn't have a place for them and the CD was a little short. The Live at The Club De Wash Cd was the first CD which I attempted to have a Band back me.It really should have come out in 1994 but I wasn't sure after the concert I wanted to go this route. 11.album cover My next release was Vote for Me/It's a Joke and it brought me back on Dr Demento's Funny 5 for a limited time because of the Governor race in California but mostly Dr Demento just played it now and then during the regular show.Vote for Me/It's a Joke was a cassette tape that I put on a 7" 5 song blue vinyle EP record because records had made a comeback in 1996 and I thought since it was an Election year I would release my first and only record.Actaully believe it or not I did sell more that 300 of the 500 copies but yes I still have a few and you can get a copy of the 7" by mail at Art Paul Schlosser 5510 Pheasant Hill Rd,Madison,WI 53716 please send any amount you want plus postage and I'll send you a copy. The CD was released July 4,2003 and all 100 copies sold out so I had 5 more made for CD Baby so it could be put into the download stores. You can still get one of the 5 by clicking on the image. 12.album cover As you can see from my last couple of recordings, starting with Live at the Hog that I started to put out older recordings. The reason was is CDs became more affordable because you didn't have to put out as many. Also why bother recording new music if you have a recording sitting around that could be released. This is also the best way to get more recordings out is if you put them out in smaller amounts. But having some new songs to record and a couple of unfinished CDs I thought I would go back to Randy's recording one more time I think December or January 2004.One of the CDs I was planning on releasing was my 3 gospel cassettes on one CD and since I just wrote some new gospel songs and you can fit 78 minutes of material on a CD I thought maybe I could put my 2 gospel songs that were really popular at the time on it.One called Do You Want To Walk On Water ? sounded like a good title for the CD.I released the CD in the spring of 2004 and the song Eat Nutritiously was played on Dr Demento 13.album cover Then there was a recording project half finished which had 7 cheese songs that were parodies of of Buddy Holly,Elvis,The Doors,The Monkees and the Beatles and another weird Parody which didn't mention cheese at all called Mary had a big Lamb. What I originally wanted to do was release a cassette tape called Words of Cheese by Buddy Holly Cheesehead but I don't know why I added Mary Had A Big Lamb but since I started it back in the mid 90s I thought I should finish it. I was also going to put out Art Paul Schlosser is destroying the Beatles because I started writing alot of parodies to Beatle songs but I didn't have enough for a CD so since I also was planning on releasing a deranged christmas CD with parodies of christmas, I thought how about just a whole Parody CD. Dr Demento like the weird idea of calling myself Buddy Holly Cheesehead so he played Let's Eat Cheese Mama. 14.album cover The ABCs of Art Paul Schlosser's World was the last CD that was part of the last recording ay Randy's Recording. This one I released in the Fall of 2004 when I performed live at the King club with the Great LukeSki & Motor Primitives. It has every song as a letter of the Alphabet.Dr Demento played Let's Loitter which was the last song Dr Demento has ever played of my music. He played it twice onece in the fall of 2004 and again in January of 2005. 15.album cover I didn't release much in 2005 because I was compiling Art Paul Schlosser{The Tribute !} which came out in the fall of 2006.Infact at the King Club where both me and the great LukeSki performed we recorded I'm More Demented than you(Pink Pants) which is one of the songs on the CD.I have recently sent it to Dr Demento but he hasn't played it yet. 16.album cover So now as I am collecting songs for Art Paul{The Remix Project} which I will be releasing in 2008 I am slowly releasing the rest of my cassette tapes and putting them on CD and then into Apple iTunes and other download stores. Here they are as they have been coming out: Warning came out in March and has gotten a little publisity. 17.album cover Then after hearing some of the songs Jim Anderson decided to add music to them and since I like his idea I gave him more songs to listen to and possiblely add music to. It Takes A Whole World is the result and it has inspired me to get others to also add to my songs so now I am compiling and hoping to release Art Paul{The Remix Project} for sometime next year. 18.album cover Untitled I & II seem to be my most obscure and lesser known cassette tapes of all of my cassette tapes. So if you want something no one else has heard you might want to check them out. Then again now that this CD is in Apple iTunes this may no longer be the case. 19.album cover With all the other songs I got on Dr Demento after the release of The Best of Art Paul Schlosser it seemed wise to me and the great LukeSki that there should be a sequel so if you've got The Best of Art Paul Schlosser and you want another one without having to buy a whole bunch more this might be the CD your looking for: 20.album cover So if your wondering what is my most recent song to get played on Dr Demento then I'll have to say: album cover So how would you request some of my music on Dr Demento ? You could request it at http://www.clamhead.com/drd.php Or call 562-Odd-Tune How do I listen to it: you can listen to Dr Demento from any computer at http://www.drdemento.com But doesn't that cost money ? Yes Dr Demento charges you $2.00 but if you really want to hear his show maybe it's worth it or maybe you would rather listen to The Mad Music show or The Mad Music Top 20 for free ? Well you can at http://www.themadmusicarchive.com You can also download my songs there. This one is the last of the songs from my old cassette tapes mixed with a bunch of other recordings. Some were recorded by Adam who was a friend of my friend Derek from Ivory Library. Others are from live performances on WORT 89.9 fm. And one song which I don't remember the name of the person who's studio it was but the song has me playing guitar and singing on one track while playing drums on another track. This CD is kind of like an outtakes CD. ART PAUL SCHLOSSER: The ABCs of ART PAUL SCHLOSSER's World This next one was recorded a couple of years ago at WORT 89.9 studio to help a nice lady named Shari Elf finish a project she was working on called The Shari Elf Tribute CD. We did not only one but a whole bunch and we were uncertain which song she should put on here Tribute CD so we sent the whole thing to her. She ended up publishing 4 of the songs but I liked the whole CD so I asked her if she didn't mind if I published the whole thing including the ones she did and didn't publish and she sure. ART PAUL SCHLOSSER: The ABCs of ART PAUL SCHLOSSER's World Recently I've been recording new CDs and this one was recorded last November: ART PAUL SCHLOSSER: The ABCs of ART PAUL SCHLOSSER's World Another CD I recorded last fall is this one which was recorded using the phone.I would take sing into the phone on an answer machine which was hooked up to the computer and then through E-mail the person would send back the mp3. ART PAUL SCHLOSSER: The ABCs of ART PAUL SCHLOSSER's World Then in February I took part in February Album Writing Month at fawm.org and you find my artist page at http://www.fawm.org/writers.php?id=291 February Album Writing Month is where you try to write 14 songs in February which is the shortest month of the year. I actaully wrote 20 and recorded 15 for a CD called: ART PAUL SCHLOSSER: The ABCs of ART PAUL SCHLOSSER's World Then finally after E-mailing all sorts of artist Art Paul {The Remix Project} is finally done. ART PAUL SCHLOSSER: The ABCs of ART PAUL SCHLOSSER's World No collection could be complete without another out-take CD and this one has a cover in color by the fabulous Steve Chappell. Yet this is not the last CD because I am still working on a Parody collection and I have a 2 live CDs coming plus a Best of Christmas as well as other projects. Thanks for the add. I'm actually a Madison alum. I proudly pushed my garbage can around the Memorial Union for four years as a the laziest student janitor activist of the 80s, crying "oppression" as the labor union office manager, only to nap in the broom closets after superficially tidying up the bathrooms.

Anyway, I miss that place and hope you're reaping all the benefits of living in the Firenze of Wisconsin. Love the art work and the songs, and hope we cross paths someday.
