"10! 9! IGNITION SEQUENCE STARTS!
WellCome to the ARTPOP! TimesCapsule, an imprint designed to return Edward Ball's fabulous academy of independent art/pop identities to the public domain.
From the O LEVEL and TEENAGE FILMSTARS singles of the late '70s, through THE TIMES/WHAAM! label releases of the early '80s culminating with selected CREATION RECORDS albums from the '90s.
Despite his solo chart singles THE MILL HILL SELF HATE CLUB . . .
. . . and LOVE IS BLUE, THE TIMES indie-pop club hits MANCHESTER and LUNDI BLEU, being co-founder and current member of the TV PERSONALITIES and part time BOO RADLEY, Edward's suitcase of disguises and back catalogue have been largely overlooked in the 21st Century . . . that is, until now!
And as curator of this ArtPop Gallery of dreams it gives me great pleasure to declare . . . WE HAVE LIFT-OFF!"
MY ANDY WARHOL POSTER
I wrote this one in a black polo neck jumper. Was a live favourite of early Times/TVPs shows.
BOYS ABOUT TOWN
From "Up Against It", The Times soundtrack for Joe Orton's screenplay for The Beatles. Co-directing "Up Against It" with Tony Conway was the most fun I ever had in a theatre. Great fun making the album too, just John East and me doing everything.
BALLAD OF GEORGIE BEST
Acid Mod song for the fifth Pistol. Recorded by me and Nick Heyward in an afternoon of harmonies and laughs . . . whaddaguy! The sessions for this album ALTERNATIVE COMMERCIAL CROSSOVER were crazy and far-reaching (Joycean spells and Tippa Irie, Guinness and Ganja). By the end of the year, 1993, I was touring with those lovable Northern Souls the Boo Radleys as keyboard player, opening the shows in a solo spot with acoustic guitar.
LIAM GALLAGHER OUR LEADER
The most honest pop star Creation records ever had. I have personal anecdotes about this man that I would love to share with you one day that would reveal him in his true light.
thanks Edward..enjoyed your show at Boston arms..just about to buy O' levels best of...Good days around the Kings rd...late 70's early 80's...Then down to the great Stamford bridge!!! When it really was 'old' England...before all the Starbucks/Mobile phone shops!!!
