COLOGNE’S OFF-SHOW FOR CONTEMPORARY ART
Starting in August 22nd till 31st 2008 „ARTRMX COLOGNE VOL.01” is a topic based art festival presenting contemporary photography, street art, painting, installation, graphics and video art in an extraordinary frame – a platform for lively exchanges between international artists, collectors, gallery-owners and art interested people.
The „ARTRMX COLOGNE VOL.01“ exhibition takes place in different off-locations (such as apartments, empty buildings or lofts) throughout Cologne. Out of nearly 400 artists the jury chose 52 artists on the given subject for 2008 „WHERE IS MY MIND?“. They took a stand to the questions: Where do I stand as an individual? Which discoveries and insights am I aware of? Where does appearance deceive reality? And which illusions are worth falling for?
SUBJECT 2008: WHERE IS MY MIND?

Assault on the senses: in the market of advertisement-bawlers, digital-showmen and politics-jugglers the collective attention fluctuates between uncountable commercial possibilities. It’s about time for a private inventory: What do I stand for? Which detections, discernments and disclosures are in my focus of interest? Where does the outward appearance deceive reality? And which illusion is worth to fall for?
ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE ARTRMX E.V.
The artrmx e. V. is responsible for the conception, the organisation, the PR and execution of the programme as well as for the realisation of an exhibition booklet and catalogue. In addition the artrmx e. V. will arrange a frame program with special exhibitions, parties and a symposium.
FRAME PROGRAM
JUNGE_KUNST SYMPOSIUM
Junge_Kunst and ARTRMX host a symposium where artists, academics and experts in arts and culture hold an interdisciplinary discourse on the question „Where is my Mind?“. These diverse perceptions promise controversy and new insights.

Jojo Tillmann „BreakUp“
Der langjährige Bühnen- und Lichtdesigner Jojo Tillmann zeigt mit „Break up“ interaktive Lichtobjekte, die nicht wie Werbe-Leuchtkästen anmuten, sondern aus verschiedenen Schichten von C-Prints, Folien sowie Acrylglas konstruiert sind und durch mehrfarbige LED-Lichter illuminiert werden.
Diese erhalten ihren Leuchtimpuls über eine Pixelmapping-Software von einer Videokamera.
Das aufgenommene Bild wird hierbei in verwertbare Datenströme zur Steuerung des Lichts verwandelt.
Der Betrachter taucht dadurch in den Lichtraum ein, beeinflusst diesen und erlebt eine Defokussierung, indem er sich selbst als Teil des vorgestellten Raumes wahrnimmt.
