Equipped Music - What We Do
The heart of the matter
Through biblical examination we uncover and discern the reasons why God’s people sing in church. We demonstrate why, and how, music should be used as a part of congregational worship.
Making music most effective
Equipped Music communicates the strength and value of using music suited to the culture of your church. We explain the practical application of skills that will sharpen your ministry. This is not aiming to establish a unified contemporary sound across the Church. We aim to equip your music team to be most effective in your chosen style of music, with the resources you are blessed to have. Song selection is important we demonstrate how you can choose music that ‘plays to your strengths’.
Section Workshops
Your team will receive Christ focused practical training from experienced leaders who come from a variety of churches and backgrounds. We know the value of small group training, where questions can be asked and the finer details discussed. This is why we run streamlined workshops as part of the training program.
Networking for community
Meeting our brothers and sisters who serve in the music ministries of other churches is extremely valuable for fellowship and to share experiences of trial and of joy. Equipped Music is a place where networking can take place, friendships can be made and God’s children can be united to more effectively bring Him glory.
For the support of leadership
Music Directors and Worship Pastors will begin an ongoing relationship with Equipped Music who can act as a leadership support base. Where needs are identified outside of our ministry focus and capacity we will endeavour to assist as the right support is found to resolve these needs.
Follow up is the key
As part of our value to establish an ongoing relationship with churches we encourage you to take part in follow up tailored training at your church facility. Our follow up and commitment to relationship is a unique aspect of what Equipped Music is about. This follow up training will focus in on your specific needs and see our tutors working closely along side your team to achieve your goals.
This promotional video was created to advertise the college through the community and schools as well as promote the work of our students. All music throughout the video was recorded and composed by our student and intern Andrew Lim.
Current Courses in Creative Arts
Certificate II Music Industry (Foundation) - Electronic Music
In this course we will help you discover and refine your song writing potential as we introduce you to the computer based audio/MIDI production program called Pro Tools. With or without previous music experience, you’ll be composing in a range of styles within weeks of starting this course. The artistic potential within this software is enormous. Here’s your chance to put yourself at the cutting edge of the music industry with this significant technology sitting at your fingertips.
Certificate III Music (Performance/Composition) - Electronic Music
We will help you to refine and build upon the foundational skills you already hold as we take you deeper into the audio/MIDI production environment of Pro Tools. To maximise use of the devices found in this industry-standard software, we will also sharpen your song writing skills and introduce you to some important arranging techniques. Here is your chance to widen your creative reach as you come to understand and apply your newly found performance, recording and compositional skills, taking another step towards having the necessary skills to work in a professional environment as an electronic musician.
Certificate IV Music (Performance/Composition) - Electronic Music
In this course you will focus on your ability to write original music and build up a portfolio of creative work that you can use to establish yourself in the industry. In addition, you will have an opportunity to delve into the exciting world of live performance in electronic music. To complete this training you will be exposed to different software packages and equipment at a more advanced level, particularly in using Pro Tools. Consequently, when applying for the course, college staff will need to ascertain your current knowledge base and skill to see if it is where it needs to be. The course will also take you through some important arranging and production skills that you will use in fulfilling the requests often placed on an electronic musician by clientele.
Certificate III Music (Performance/Ensemble) - Independent Music
If you are in a band, a musician wanting to be part of one, or a solo artist, and you want to record and perform your music, then this course is for you. We will teach you ways that you can begin to make your mark on the independent music scene as you develop your artistic abilities. In particular, you will focus on cultivating your song writing and production skills, both at an individual and group level. As part of the course you will have your music recorded and be guided through promotion and marketing opportunities that you can establish. If you are already in a band, we encourage you to sign up together so the group can experience maximum impact.
Certificate III Music Industry (Technical Production)
If you’d prefer to shine the light rather than be in the spotlight this course is for you. You will learn how to use mixing consoles, multi-track recorders, microphones, speakers and of course, spotlight, moving lights and other theatrical lighting. Projects during the year include recording a band, mixing a song for CD and producing a live event incorporating lights, sound and stage management. You will be exposed to all this from the ground up, so if you’ve had no previous experience in this field, this course is for you. If you want to work as an assistant sound and lighting engineer, then this is the course for you.
Certificate IV Music Industry (Technical Production)
This course is designed for those students who want to go to a higher level in sound engineering. Like certificate III, this course will cover mixing consoles, multi-track recorders, microphones, speakers, and the like, but to a level where you can actually direct the show, both in live sound and studio recording. While it gives you an opportunity to go to a higher level, you can come in at any level. The difference is in your timetabling and the amount of time you will need to allocate.
