ARTS/West is proud to incubate the Aquabear Legion-Mission:
Based in Appalachian Ohio, The Aquabear Legion provides a community network for creative people. We are dedicated to supporting and enhancing independent music and art in our community and elsewhere. We focus on collaborative relationships to create opportunities for independent musicians and artists.
Athens, Ohio - for those who don't know - has a happening music scene. Noise and experimental music thrives along with many others.
The last Sunday of the month at ARTS/West on W. State St (past the cemetary) is Noise Night.

For those who may have missed the sublime, 3-hour concert with Holly Near and friends at ARTS/West last night---or who just have to have MORE---the whole entourage will be in Marietta, on Sunday at 2:00, with John McCutcheon joining them! (It looks like the impressive Torres Sisters are going back to Portland, Maine, for an appearance tonight .) If for some unknown reason you aren't interested in the politics, let me assure you the music is so stupendous you'll want to go just for that.
Since Holly singled out Heather Cantino in a special thank you from the stage for her organization skills, let's send her congratulations and gratitude. We all needed more time to buy the CDs however, but I'm on my way to shop the Internet for them anyway. [I'm especially interested in Holly's reissue (and expansion by 13 songs, including Singing With You, to a double set) of the HARP concerts (1984). HARP stands for Holly, Arlo Guthrie, Ronnie Gilbert, and Pete Seeger, and that's who the group was!] Thanks also to ARTS/West for providing the space and tech---although we know they have to have NOT sponsored or endorsed Sing Out The Vote Ohio.
The appearance Sunday is FREE (but bring money---you'll want to donate) at Marietta College. The link Spruce is sharing says the location is the lobby of the Hermann Fine Arts Center. Hopefully that will be big and comfortable enough.
Remember to vote early for your candidate---especially if his name rhymes with "Yo' Mama," Richard
