Asaurus Records is a painfully small CD-R label that was founded in December 2001 by Matthew and Corey in the suburbs of Detroit (which are quite nice, actually). Since 2006, we have been headquartered in various Athens, GA bedrooms. The day-to-day operations are undertaken entirely by Matthew and this stresses him out sometimes. All of our releases come inside packaging that is handmade to some degree. The music we focus on could be described as indie pop, lo-fi, and/or quiet noise, but we also find enjoyment in many other genres.
While the label initally started with zero ambition (or ideas), over the years, with the support of many wonderful people, it has blossomed into a full-fledged DIY business that ships packages full of handmade records all over the world daily. Its OK to refer to us as the Wal-Mart of CD-R labels.
Ultimately, Asaurus Records is run by artists and musicians and we are only interested in putting out awesome records that truly benefit both the bands and the label. Our plate is currently full, so please note that we are not looking for any new bands/projects at this time.
just a lil reminder about the upcoming Ponies in the Surf CD release show at PA's Lounge this Saturday, June 28th. We really like the new record (double CD!) and hope you can make it to the show.
Too bad Asaurus shall be over soon, but it's soul will live on in the form of the occasional CDR spinin' in an out dated CD player that skips when you walk past it.
