Sounds Like
Progressive Punk music: Older punk music such as The Clash and Dead Kennedys combined with more complex musical ideas like odd time signatures, strange chord progressions, and linear song structure (rather than verse chorus etc.)
We think that we have a very original sound, but some people say we sound like:
Alice in Chains, Anti-Flag, Audioslave, Bad Religion, Black Flag, Black Sabbath, Catch 22, The Clash, CKY, The Dead Kennedys, Descendants, The Doors, The Exploited, Fugazi, GBH, Green Day, Inquisition, Janes Addiction, Jimi Hendrix, Kansas, Lars Frederickson and the Bastards, Led Zeppelin, Less Than Jake, The Melvins, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, The Misfits, Mudhoney, Nirvana, NoFX, The Offspring, Operation Ivy, Pearl Jam, Pink Floyd, Primus, Radiohead, Rage Against The Machine, Rancid, The Ramones, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Sex Pistols, Social Distortion, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, Sublime, System of a Down, Third Eye Blind, and The Vandals
We are Asbestos, a band from the Towson area in Maryland. We've been around for a couple years now and hope to be here for many years to come. We've done all of that kool stuff like releasing a full length album and playing some live shows, but that's not the important part of who we are.
We care about our music and we care about our fans (you!). We write music because we love it, music is our life and not one of us could survive without it. Honestly, we would love to tour across the country and play every club and bar we see, but as long as we have our music and some one who'll listen to and respect us for who we are and not what they expect us to be, we couldn't be happier.
Also, we're not those pompous, spoiled assholes you see on TV or on the stage so far away from you that you can barely see them through binoculars who are so caught up in themselves and their money that they don't even take the time to recognize that their fans are people too. After our shows, we'd love to have a one on one conversation with each of you, ask you if you enjoyed the show, give you a hug and thank you for coming out to see us. We love when you get into the music and show that you are having a good time and aren't bored out of your minds. Most of all we love your constructive criticism and, no matter how pissed off we may seem at first, we always take your ideas into consideration (yes, we have been trying to make the words more understandable!).
So please don't mistake us for the big, rich, sold out, greedy, inconsiderate, distant, rude rock bands that populate the music scene in bulk. Next time you're at a show, come to our merch table after our set and hang out for a while.
'til next time, -Asbestos
New Songs Uploaded: In July, we released a new demo CD featuring Bobby Canner on drums. During this time we were very busy preparing to leave on tour so we didn't have time to upload the new versions to our space.
Several months later, we are still very busy... But! we thought it was about time to upload those song anyway. SO! Enjoy the new versions of "Liability" and "Destroy the Wall," as well as a song many of you have never heard before "Prohibition."
As usual, let us know how you feel. Your input is vital!
'Til next time,
-Asbestos
New Drummer: Bobby Canner is now the official new drummer for Asbestos. He is a student at UMBC who plans to major in Music Composition. We hope that having him as a drummer will add a new dimension to our music in both performance and writing. For more information on Bobby visit cleavagefragment.blogspot.com

New Music Update: After several months of complaining and hearing complaints about the sample version of Sell Out Police, we were struck with an idea. "Perhaps we could make TWO sample versions (gasp!) and place them next to each other, therefore making the entire song available!" Once we got over the shock of our pure genius, we decided our idea would probably be best put into action. Two months later... Progress. The ENTIRE SAMPLE VERSION OF SELL OUT POLICE is now available for listeningment and downloadage in the above (^ that way) music player. ALSO! We have uploaded the title song from our last album "Punk Is Freedom," in response to popular demand. FURTHERMORE! For those of you who haven't visited thecleavage fragment! we have been hard at work writing, recording, and mixing songs for our next album "Life Incorporated." We hope to be releasing demos with Sell Out Police, Destroy the Wall, and two other songs from the next album by the end of the year. So yea... We've been busy... but in a good way. Hope you all enjoy the new song uploads! More information about Life Incorporated recordings soon.

Official Asbestos Blog As Asbestos stretches to every corner of the vast infinitesimal interwebs, it is hard to skip over the large, loud corner that is the blog. With this blog we will provide yet another location to get Asbestos media, news, and music.
Through this blog we will also detail the recording process of our next album and maybe post some information about songs that are "under construction."
New Music:(see update above)
For the past several months we have been working on the songs for our next album. We've completely written 5 songs and have 3 or 4 others in various stages of the writing process.
We decided we'd give our fans a little preview of the new material, so we made a rough recording of the song "Sell-Out Police" for your enjoyment! Unfortunately, Myspace, in its infinite wisdom, ASSumed that no band would ever write a song that is ten minutes long and would not let us upload all of it. To fix this problem, we created an abbreviated version to post on our website, and we will be releasing the entire version on our new free demos for the new album. Please feel free to download this sample version of "Sell-Out Police," or come to a show and hear it and other new songs live and get your copy of the demo.
At the risk of running into the same problem as Rancid, we hope to have our album out in 2009.
To our thousands of adoring fans, with all the love in our hearts, -Asbestos

yea no problem. yea if you could help and start adding fans that like grunge/rock type of music that would be great. i'm thinkin if we could get a lot of fans of that type of music on this page, they could see the other types of grunge bands out there. thanks for helpin out, if you want me to put a song up of urs on the player i can do that.
Or some mysterious person just loves me and sent it in for me :) OR! maybe I did it in my sleep. I have a second personality that emerges at night, and responds to e-mails, then mysteriously marks them as "unread." The plot thickens..
You gentlemen had an extremely great act when you played at Brewsters a couple weeks back. Definitely very noteworthy and personally our favorite band that played there overall. I hope that we can sometime play a show together even though you all live a bit away. Also, we added you to our top friends. Hope to see you around!
Ey, yo, so I say, I think I should definitely be in the top friends, since you know, I go to shows, and, you know, I dated a drummer, and before that my drummer was my brother, and before that my best friend dated the singer... need I go on? ye for wintering!
