Asena was born in Istanbul. She knew what she was going to do all her life, thanks to her mother, when she was very little. She began to develop a good taste for music during her early teen years with the help of bands and musicians such as Duran Duran, Alphaville, Level-42, Kajagoogoo and Bruce Springsteen. She embraced rock as her life's ambition as soon as she heard the heavenly voice of Janis Joplin. Other bands and singers that may be said to influence her choices and gave her the versatile vocal technique she has today include The Cult, Whitesnake, Iron Maiden, Slayer, Manowar, Megadeth, Metallica, Aretha Franklin, etc. She had been the lead singer of a few very successful bands including Hard Lines, formerly known as Cizgi Otesi, Vertigo, DNA, HarleQueen and finally Karakedi.
