About me: my name is martin. i started asextapes as a d.i.y. record label in march of 2007. at that time my goal was to start a small independent record label focusing on lo-fi recordings of recording artists that i would make and release on cassette format. i was also interested in field recordings and just documenting the local d/fw music scene in general, in particular the noise scene. i never got together the gear to pull of everything i intended with those initial ideas or the dicipline and technical prowess (honestly, now that i've figured out kind of what that would take, my interest has waned in that pursuit). asextapes may still be that one day and i still do add to its discography. i think of it as more a visual art/ sound art project now dealing with recycled tapes, documentation, manipulation, found sounds, etc. asextapes has become more of a folk art interpretation of an underground record label. i guess all d.i.y. labels are and i'm living in the middle of a folk art explosion. i did do a release for robert inhuman that is a legit release. they all are, its all rhetoric anyway. i keep a discography. or do sometimes.
