Despite a track record of accolades and critical acclaim, the release of Ashbury Keys 3rd CD release, Growing Up, sparked new attention and a grass roots buzz that surprised even the bands long time supporters. The Growing Up review in Music Connection, an L.A.-based magazine, ranked the CD as one of the top 10 CD reviews for the entire year.
In 2005 they were a featured band on industry websites Kings of A&R and Notlame.com. The website features culminated in an L.A. showcase for the band. Ashbury Keys additionally played 2 successful shows at the 2005 SXSW Conference in Austin as part of the Captiva Music Groups showcases held at the Hard Rock Café and Hotshots. The Hard Rock show was recorded in high definition and aired on HDNET. They also were invited and played the 2005 International Pop Overthrow in Chicago.
The most exciting news of all is the internet radio stations that have been spinning Ashbury Keys. As a telling example, Ashbury Keys consistently makes the top 20 on Radio One, a leading internet station, charting ahead of some of the hottest bands at the moment, such as Keane, The Killers, and Snow Patrol. The band has launched an 8 week college radio campaign to coincide with its internet spins, and in only the 3rd week of radio promotion, Ashbury Keys has already been added by 89 radio stations. Six stations already have Ashbury Keys playing in heavy rotation format.
Ashbury Keys is currently recording its 4th CD release.
