My name is John Ashby and I'm a freelance photographer specialising in Music Photography.

I have been photographing bands since January 2004 when I bought my first camera phone, a Sagem myX-6. I was invited by my friends at Birmingham Academy to go to one of their gigs. I took my first Music photos at that gig for Templeton Pek. A couple of weeks later I bought my first digital camera, a Fujifilm S500. Since then I have taken literally thousands upon thousands of photos and built up a reputable portfolio of the years.

As you will see Templeton Pek are heavily featured and it is through photographing them as often as I could over the years that allowed me to gain access to some major gigs and festivals around the country, putting me in touch with some great venues and bands throughout the U.K.

I now shoot with a Nikon D70 that has survived a few narrow scrapes along the way.

Rock and Metal bands feature heavily throughout my portfolio reflecting my tastes in music but I'm always happy to photograph whoever and wherever I can.
