JC Whitelaw and Nino Dmytryszyn went to school together. Then JC met Billy Brandt and were in a band called Voices in a Room. Soon they met Mary McGuire through an ad in the Metro Times when they were looking for a singer. Mary McGuire and Nino Dmytryszyn knew each other from playing in a Big Band together, then she auditioned for the gig, JC suggested Nino as a drummer and viola, the band was born.
