When it comes to heroes, they are not just a hero in my eyes. Francis Bacon to me is someone I approve with his type of work. He is someone I feel I have connection with his paintings and the fact he died the same year my mother did. I love how the paintings are a reflection of his own life, how he felt and saw the world around him. He expresses himself as a real tortured soul. I feel the same way sometimes. Things not working out like your hoped, or that you were bad dealt with bad hand. He found a way to cope with reality and expressed the best way he knew how. I find his work amazing. That takes a lot of work, to put up with one another and someone has to worship cabbage...smiles. I love the zen and simplistic styles of Mark Rothko. Sandy Skoglund for her amazing set ups and cibachrome photographs. Jackson Pollock for his choatic paintings. I see it as anyone's life can be a mess. Nam June Paik...someone showed me his work & I love his sculptors.
