Influences

"Impressive wordplay" - The Times

"BRILLIANTLY SURREAL INVENTION..FABULOUS POEMS" - EDINBURGH EVENING NEWS

"A very cool combination of rap, rhyme, repititon and wry wit..Dickinson proves not only to be an incredibly gifted poet, but also a great comedian with a sharp eye for social commentary" - Winnipeg Free Press

"ASH DICKINSON IS A PERFORMANCE POET FOR THE LOST GENERATION. IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN HIM, YOU HAVEN'T SEEN PERFORMANCE POETRY" - FEDERATION OF WRITERS (SCOTLAND)

“And the amazing Ash Dickinson..this poet wields words like wicked weapons, his vivid surrealism now overlaid with darker matter..and still those remarkable rhyme forms to astound your senses" - www.wordfringe.co.uk

"DELICIOUS STAND-UP, THEATRE AND RAP MASH-UP" - VENUE, BRISTOL

“Weird and wonderful..refreshingly unpretentious with an obtuse humour and seemingly effortless zeal..off-kilter, imaginative (yet) lucid, profound and surprisingly poignant” - Three Weeks

"ACCESSIBLE AND ENGAGING..FREQUENTLY SELF-EFFACING..A PERSONABLE AND EASY GOING PERFORMER..HE TACKLES THE BIG SUBJECTS LIKE LOVE, IDENTITY AND NATURE, AND HANDLES IT ALL WITH SKILL AND FINESSE" - CBC RADIO, CANADA

"Smartly stripping his set of the pompousness and pretensions inherent in performance poetry it is better described as stand-up comedy with a rhyme scheme..for non-fans of performance poetry, prepare to have your minds changed..go see this show!" - The Jenny Revue, Winnipeg Fringe Festival 2006

“CLEVER AND HEARTFELT” - GALAXY RADIO, NEWCASTLE

"Unusual and refreshing" - Flambard Press

“ONE MAN VERBAL VORTEX ALIGHTS FROM PLANET ASH WITH FAST WORDS AND FASTER ROMANCES" - BIG WORD PERFORMANCE POETRY

“Pisses all over Bob Dylan” - Bob Dylan fan, The Arcade Bar, Edinburgh

Hello Ash
I like 'Second Ark', very apt, as half the country will be underwater anyway in the next few years. It all comes down to whatever floats your boat really!

gr8 to see you and your performance Ash - good stuff! Now I know why I didn't recognise you - you weren't coloured blue (mind you, you spotted me even without me eating a banana). Hope the tour goes well and do keep touch! Best, N (PS - check out the new Duet vid on my site - I reckon it might be up my street).

I've actually hung up my performing gloves for the time being, having landed a pretty cushy job in Cambridge being a science geek!!! I think the world needs more Ashy-goodness though, so it may require me going on a trip to London to witness some dentist-themed fun!!

Welcome To the Family. Real recognizes Real. It's in our nature to draw to close to what is familiar. Yet we strive to be defiant and break through this mis conceptualized media. That glorifies junk, as music! Please check out our movement to revive music to it's natural element. When music was about expression of the soul. Not hooks and gimmicks, scheming to make money. There is no art in the music on heavy rotation. Poetry Over Music promotes the Real artists, the Real music, and Real talent. Please download Volume I, share it with your friends, family, co-workers. Support the real artists, the real poets and real music.

Blessings,
