Well... the profound spiritual simplicity of Leonard Cohen; the startling poetic imagery of Bob Dylan (and hats off to Jakob Dylan, too); the soulful genius of Van Morrison; the humble mastery of Bruce Springsteen; the tender intimacy of Damien Rice; the grizzled wisdom of Johnny Cash... the mournful melancholy of Celtic, Baroque, Slavonic and Jewish folk-music... the various mysteries, charms and lovelinesses of Marianne Faithful, Beyonce, Francoise Hardy, Sinead O'Connor, Georges Moustaki, Enigma, Hans Zimmer, Phillip Glass, Einaudi, Allessandra Celletti, Roger Eno, Anugama, Mike Oldfield, Arlo Guthrie, David Gray, Daniel Lanois, Beyonce (she deserves two mentions), Pink, Alicia Keys, Willie Nelson, Rick Nelson & Buddy Holly to name but a few who come immediately to mind... the beautiful game (football)... the shaman's drum... the mystic's revelations... the dervish dance...

I am a singer/songwriter who began by being an instrumental new-age composer back in 1987, recording several albums for New World Music, some of which topped the new-age/ambient charts around the world, like "Open Secret", "Mystic Heart", "Wings of Fire" and "Concert of Angels".
My early recordings were produced by my footballing and cricketing buddy Anthony Phillips, who was a co-founder of Genesis, and my later new-age offerings were produced by chillout arch-wizard Phil Thornton, at his "Expandibubble" studio in Bexhill ("Phil's shed" to me).
I started to add lyrics from a spiritual perspective, which at the time was unique in the new-age field, and now am more of a mainstream balladeer singing love songs in the great troubadour tradition... songs of romantic, courtly, spiritual and mythic love. Some of my imagery and feeling spiritual inspiration is drawn from the mystical aspects of major religious traditions... Christian, Kabbalistic, Sufi, Daoist and so on... also from mythology and Jungian psychology, all of which take me closer to some kind of inner transcendent relationship with a greater reality, but I wish to stress that I'm not a Christian in the ordinary sense, despite the preponderance of Christian imagery in some of my songs, which is really more of a cultural phenomenon. If anything I'm a 'universal soldier' as Donovan once sang!
My albums are now starting to be distributed in the UK by Voiceprint Records, and a smaller subsidiary company called Camino Records. Since 2005 I have been with Wolf-Eye Records, who distribute many of my titles in mainland Europe from their base in the Netherlands.
I began to improvise on the piano and play by ear aged 3, and there are some piano tracks on my albums, hence I can also be found at newagepiano.net
Apart from music, I work as a Jungian psychotherapist and lecturer in depth psychology, and am engaged in shamanic studies and practices; see asherquinnpsychotherapy.co.uk I am married, have two young sons and live by the river in south west London.

Asha... I am indebted to you and your music for the wonderful inspiration and calm it has instilled in me since "The Mystic Garden" and If you Believed" Ok.. I know it is a universal song... but I like to think it was created around my lunar self.. and just cannot bring myself to listen to any other music as it disturbes my train of thought.... I understand now what you meant Asha..thank you for the learning curve! Here for you Love through music always... Ellen
Really looking forward to your Concert 21st March at the Immaculate Conception, Beeches Green, Stroud, Gloucestershire. It's going to be as brilliant as London!!
Asha.. How to say! I have heard music, loved music.. but the mystic garden does something to me that I can't explain. Deep in the bottom gut of my stomach..it is truly THE most amazing piece you composed to date. How do I get to hearing your deleted stuff? Feel I should really have heard everything you have ever made before the end of my time here on earth... if I hear nothing else ever again.. let me leave with your voice, your words and your music! love to you and your family! Ellen
