Decimated was conceived in the winter of 2001, by original members Jason Pope(vocals), Paul Harper(guitar), R.J. Gibson(bass) and Nick Mastri(drums). Paul, Jason, and Nick originally formed the band. All they needed now was a bass player. They found it in R.J. Gibson. Then it was unanimously voted that a rythm guitarist was needed to compliment Paul's lead guitar. Enter Shane Long. Shane added the final piece to the complicated puzzle that was Decimated. The band put together four songs, Pagan Soldiers, Fall of the Weak, Ashes of Old, and Warriors Death. In the spring '01 Decimated was unleashed to the world. Playing shows as often as they could get them, and having a strict dedication to the music, they managed to build a very supportive fan base. In the summer of 2002 Shane Long announced that he could no longer commit to the band due to constraints in his personel life. Soon after guitarist Jesse Gantaume joined the band. The revived band plunged headfirst into the rest of 2002 and beginning of 2003, playing various shows all over Virginia and in Maryland, culminating in a summer performance at Nation in Washington D.C. Soon afterwards it was announced that vocalist Jason Pope woul be leaving the band. Ultimately forcing the band to do some serious retooling. After an extended hiatous bassist R.J. Gibson took over vocal duties. And then yep, that's right, another devastating blow hit the band. Drummer Nick Mastri announced his resignation. Feeling that the end may be near, the three remaining members set on a desperate search for a new drummer. They finally found it in David Baxter, who along with his highly proficient drumming skills brought a much needed breath of fresh air to the band.
